Deck Fix 8- Crystal Best Turbo (CBT)

hi there
i was hoping you could take a look at my deck and give me any suggestions or comments..

3 Crystal Beast Saphire Pegasus
3 Destiny Hero Diamond Dude
3 Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger
2 Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth
2 Magical Merchant

3 Crystal Abundance
2 Monster Gate
1 Spell Reproduction
3 Crystal Promise
3 Crystal Beacon
1 Monster Reborn
3 Lightning Vortex
1 Heavy Storm
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Brain Control
2 Reinforcement of the Army
1 Premature Burial
1 Fissure
1 Smashing Ground
1 Scapegoat
1 Card Destruction
1 Back to Square One

This deck is basicially the same principle as the Destiny Hero version, only about 200 dollars cheaper...
The deck's main win cause is by hitting the Crystal Abundance with Diamond Dude...although it is really inconsistent at times. Sometimes i can't find enough Diamond Dudes in order to really get the deck running. Other times i don't have enough Crystal Beasts in the graveyard to pull of a win. So, i was just hoping that you could look over the deck and tell me what you think, and you can use it in an article if you think it's worthy...

thanks,
Jordan

Hey Jordan, thanks for sending in your decklist! The funny thing about this is that I had an idea that was similar to this when the Crystal Beasts first came out. There are a few differences between our styles, but we pretty much have the same decklist. There are a few cards that I could see coming out for different ones though, and here are my picks:

Magical Merchant: It allows you to fill the graveyard up with monsters, and gives you one of your spell cards. The problem that I see is that you only run 13 monsters, so you won't get that graveyard-filling aspect that you are looking for in the deck. I cut both Merchants.

Mystical Space Typhoon: It takes out a troublesome spell or trap, but we have 4 other cards that do that for us, and the fact that it's a quickplay spell make it a little iffy, considering we run 3 Diamond Dudes. We want the Diamond Dudes to hit as much as possible, so I'm cutting all quickplay spells in exchange for a faster deck.

Brain Control: We won't need to use this when we have our win condition met (Diamond Dude + Crystal Abundance = gg), so I'm going to cut this.

Fissure and Smashing Ground: Both destroy monsters, but again, our win condition will take care of this for us.

Scapegoat: A good defensive measure, but it's a quickplay, and I want Diamond Dude to go off every time I need to use his effect.

Back to Square One: A good idea, considering the format, but I believe that we need to invest in a more aggresive tempo instead of a slower, more controlling one, which is why I cut this from the deck.

Here are the cards I put in place:

Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle: This card serves as an alternate win condition to Crystal Abundance. It allows for some miraculous plays, and it's perfect for this kind of build. I added two.

Reasoning: For this deck, we NEED reasoning. Our strategy is based in getting monsters to our grave, and using Diamond Dude to toss Abundance to the grave, and sweep the field for game next turn. Think about it for a second: If you played reasoning, what number would your opponent call the most? The answer is 4. 11 of our 13 monsters are level 4, and our other two provide an alternate win condition. It makes the deck insanely fast, and it pretty much guarantees victory.

Monster Gate: I added one more copy to compliment the speed of this deck, and to use with reasoning and diamond dude.

Rare Value: This deck's version of Destiny Draw, it allows bad hands to be good ones, and good ones to be great ones. If you use Diamond Dude's effect to send this to the grave, it becomes extremely broken. You'll only need one Crystal Beast in your spell and trap zone in order to draw two cards. It adds some serious speed to the deck.

Removed:
-2 Magical Merchant
-1 Mystical Space Typhoon
-1 Brain Control
-1 Fissure
-1 Smashing Ground
-1 Scapegoat
-1 Back to Square One

Added:
+2 Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle
+3 Reasoning
+1 Monster Gate
+3 Rare Value

Here's the finished deck:

Crystal Beast Turbo - 41 Cards

Monsters: (13)

Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus x3
Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger x3
Destiny Hero Diamond Dude x3
Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth x2
Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle x2

Spells: (28)

Crystal Abundance x3
Crystal Promise x3
Crystal Beacon x3
Reasoning x3
Monster Gate x3
Lightning Vortex x3
Spell Reproduction x1
Monster Reborn
Heavy Storm
Premature Burial
Card Destruction
Reinforcement of the Army x2
Rare Value x3

The main combo behind this deck is to play crystal abundance's effect through diamond dude. Doing it in this way allows Crystal Abundance to sweep the field and swarm withoiut having 4 Crystal Beast monsters to pay the cost. Rare Value works in a similar way, too. The deck is all about speed, so you want to send a mass of monsters to the grave to fulfill the win condition as early as turn 3, if you went first.

Well, Jordan, I hope I helped you out! Remember, send me your deck fixes/questions/comments!
If it takes a couple of days for me to send you something back, don't get angry, I'm currently swamped with 20+ deck fixes right now, and I'm working as fast as I can, but rest assured I will e-mail everyone back.
