February 2008 My Fire Princess Burn Deck - Daniel
Hello, everyone! I’m Daniel, and welcome back to my deck garage. Today, I’m going to talk about a Fire Princess Burn deck that I have created myself. Now, I will be talking about the deck first. Then, I am going to talk about what I will try to do for my next article as well as a few other things. But, before I talk about the deck, I want to let everyone know about something.
First, you should know that my deck will be using a lot of cards that no one uses anything more. Plus, it’ll remind all of you to take another look at your sleeper cards so that you can see how powerful they can be if you build a deck around them.
Last, you should know that this deck type might see play at a tournament one day. You should treat this deck as a burn deck, and be sure you have some cards in your side deck to counter this deck if you go up against it.
Now that I’m done talking about the secrets behind the deck, let’s talk about the deck itself. Before I do that, let me give all of you the deck list for the deck. As I said, here it is:
Fire Princess Burn – Main Deck: 45 cards
Monsters: 19
3 Fire Princess 2 Armageddon Knight 3 Marie the Fallen One 2 UFO Turtle 1 Sangan 1 Injection Fairy Lily 1 Snipe Hunter 1 Morphing Jar 2 Raging Fire Sprite 1 Marshmallon 1 Spirit Reaper 1 Breaker the Magical Warrior
Spells: 15
1 Level Limit – Area B 2 Heart of Clear Water 1 Spell Absorption 2 Messenger of Peace 1 Heavy Storm 1 Mystical Space Typhoon 1 Lighting Vortex 1 Premature Burial 1 Swords of Revealing Light 1 Foolish Burial 2 Wave-Motion Cannon 1 Dark Room of Nightmare
Traps: 10
3 Solemn Wishes 1 Mirror Force 3 Dark Blade 1 Call of the Haunted 1 Torrential Tribute 1 Gravity Bind
First off, you should know that the goal of this deck is to get Fire Princess onto the field as soon as possible. Then, you want to start increasing your life points so that you will be able to deal burn damage to your opponent through her effect. Now everyone, for this deck summary, I will be explaining each card in the deck by itself so that you will get a good destruction about each card instead of all the cards described in one paragraph. Plus, this will be the same way I talk about the deck when I was talking about the Power of Fusions deck last time.
First, I’ll be talking about the monsters.
Fire Princess is the star of the deck. She allows you to deal burn damage to your opponent every time you increase your life points with a card’s effect. Plus, since the deck has a few cards in it that allow you to increase your life points, you should be able to use her effect every time you do that. However, she needs to be face-up on the field in order for you to claim her effect.
Marie the Fallen One helps you claim Fire Princess’s effect due to her effect. As long as she remains in your graveyard, during each of your standby phases, you gain 200 life points. It may sound bad at first, but combined with Fire Princess, you will also do damage to your opponent. Finally, with the handful of cards in the deck that can drop her in the graveyard, you will be able to start getting her effect quickly.
Armageddon Knight and UFO Turtle help thin out the deck as well as get your key cards into the right spots. UFO Turtle can special summon Fire Princess from your deck to the field when it’s destroyed by battle. Plus, Armageddon Knight can drop Marie the Fallen One in your graveyard from the deck when it’s summoned so that you can start gaining life points and claim Fire Princess’s effect.
The last 2 monster cards I will be talking about in the deck are Raging Fire Spirit and Injection Fairy Lily. Raging Fire Spirit can attack your opponent’s life points directly. Plus, every time it attacks directly, it gains 1000 ATK. So it can get pass your opponent’s monsters, and it’s even better if you have Level Limit – Area B or Gravity Bind on the field since your opponent’s high level monsters can’t attack it. Also, Injection Fairy Lily can get 3000 ATK during the damage step if you pay 2000 life points. Since this deck can give you a lot of life points quickly, you should be able to use her effect a few times.
Now everyone, if I didn’t explain any other monster cards in the deck, it means that those monsters are in most decks these days and they need no real explanation whatsoever. Let’s move on to the spell cards in the deck now.
Heart of Clear Water is your protection for Fire Princess. As long as it’s equip to Fire Princess, Fire Princess can’t be destroyed by battle and is unaffected by the effects of spell cards that target a monster on the field. This means that your opponent will have to use a card’s effect to get her off the field, and you will be able to keep using her effect without having to worry about the battle phase. However, please remember that your opponent can use something like Heavy Storm to destroy Heart of Clear Water since it is a spell card.
Level Limit – Area B, Messenger of Peace, and Swords of Revealing Light are the stall cards in the deck. They prevent your opponent’s strong monsters from attacking, buying you some time to get Fire Princess onto the field and get her effect ready when you’re ready to use it. However, be aware that Level Limit – Area B and Messenger of Peace stop different groups of monsters from attacking. Plus, Swords of Revealing Light only stops your opponent from attacking for 3 turns. So they are different in their own ways.
Spell Absorption is one of the life point gain cards in the deck. While it’s on the field face-up, every time a spell card is activated, you gain 500 life points. Plus, it helps you use Fire Princess’s effect even faster. However, be aware that you only gain life points after the spell card resolves, and Spell Absorption is still face-up on the field after that.
Foolish Burial is the second and last card in the deck that can drop Marie the Fallen One in your graveyard from your deck so that you can start gaining life points every turn. Plus, it’s easier to use than Armageddon Knight since you don’t have to wait to activate it.
The last 2 spell cards I will be talking about in the deck are Wave-Motion Cannon and Dark Room of Nightmare. Wave-Motion Cannon allows you to do more damage to your opponent if you happen to wait a few standby phases for it to load up, and Dark Room of Nightmare does extra damage to your opponent when you use Fire Princess’s or Wave-Motion Cannon’s effect.
Again, if I didn’t talk about any other spell cards in the deck, it means that those spell cards are standard in decks and they need no real explanation whatsoever. Finally, let’s talk about the trap cards in the deck.
Solemn Wishes is the third and last life point gain card in the deck. While it’s on the field face-up, every time you draw a card(s), you gain 500 life points. This does include when you draw a card during your draw phase, and when you draw a card(s) by another card’s effect. So it’s a good way to gain a lot of life points really fast. However, It only allows you to gain 500 life points every time you draw a card, not 500 life points for each card you draw though an effect. So remember this when you use its effect.
The last 2 trap cards I will be talking about in the deck are Dark Blade and Gravity Bind. Dark Blade allows you to negate a spell or trap card’s effect and destroy it as well as let your opponent draw a card. Also, Gravity Bind has an effect similar to Level Limit – Area B, but allows monsters to change their battle position. However, it still prevents level 4 or higher monsters from attacking, and it is a trap. So it is still a good card whatsoever.
For the last time, if I didn’t explain any other trap cards in the deck, it means that those trap cards are standard in deck these decks and they need no real explanation whatsoever.
Overall, I think this deck may be a very good deck to play with at a tournament. You will be surprised about how well the sleeper cards in this deck work well together to win you the duel. Anyway, you should try a deck like this one at your next tournament. You will see soon enough how gaining life points can win you the match. Now, as usual, I have a few more things to say before I leave again.
First, you should know that I will be starting deck fixes again soon. I will be starting them again sometime next month (March). Until then, all of you can keep sending in your decks for me to fix at Kids6@Worldnet.att.net. I also expect any other information related to my deck fixes or the Yu-gi-oh TCG, but if it’s a deck fix, please follow the rules for my deck fixes which is under the article titled “New Deck Fix Rules – Daniel”. (Hint – It was posted on February 4, 2008)
Second, I want to let all of you know that I changed my mind again about the card combo rules and decided that I will not be talking about them. I am so busy these days that I feel that if I were to start talking about card combos, I would get confused with deck fixes and card combos. Plus, it’s too hard for me to keep track of everything I write about. So this is why I’m not doing any card combos, but I will still be doing deck fixes for all of you. Again, details about my deck fixes are in the previous paragraph.
Third, let me remind all of you that this is my last article before the next ban list and for the month. It is impossible for me to write another article before the next ban list since there is only a week left before the list takes effect and in the month. However, I will start writing new articles for everyone after the ban list takes effect, and the first article I plan on doing is on the new ban list. This article will take me some time to write. So expect it to be on the site in mid-March, or earlier, depending on when I get it done.
Fourth, let me remind all of you that when the new ban list takes effect, if you want to send me a deck to fix, please put it under that ban list. This saves me the time and trouble from taking out a lot of cards in the deck just to make the deck legal. Plus, if I were to do that, about half the deck would be cut, and since I’m so busy these days, I wouldn’t have the time to put in 20 cards just to get the deck back up to 40 cards. So please send me your decks under the new ban list when it comes into the effect.
Fifth, let me remind all of you again that I’m a busy man. So it may take me some time to write the next article as well as send it in. If that happens, please don’t rush me to write the article and send it in. Okay? This is also the same reason when I try to e-mail any of you back when you send me something though e-mail.
Finally, let me remind all of you that I will start up with deck fixes again after I talk about the new ban list, but, most likely, it will be a deck under September’s ban list. However, this won’t be a problem since I can just make it legal before fixing it. Plus, the next list may give us a lot more cards to work with when it comes into effect. This is also the same reason when I starting fixing decks again. So expect to start seeing deck fixes again after I talk about the new ban list.
That’s it for this article, everyone. I know that I had a lot of things to say at the end of it, but I needed to cover them so that they would be clear to all of you. Anyway, next time, I will be talking about the new ban list as well as try to give you my opinions about why I think each card was dropped or raised in how many copies you can have of each of them in your deck. Expect to see that article sometime in March. Well, until next time, have fun and play fair. Goodbye, and have a nice rest of the month off [Or at least until the new ban list comes into effect]. - Daniel
