Card Game Tips from fans
January 2008
A Less Orthodox Use for Skreech
For those who are familiar with the secret rare
monster Skreech, you know all the combos is can
make with WATER monsters, the most commonly
played being Treeborn Frog and Mother Grizzly,
and perhaps the new Dragon Ice. For those who
are not familiar with Skreech, here is its card
description:
GLAS-EN086
Skreech
WATER/Reptile/Effect
Level 4 / ATK: 1500 / DEF: 400
"When this card is destroyed by battle, select 2
WATER monsters from your Deck and send them to
the Graveyard."
A nice effect to be sure, especially for such a
butt-ugly creature (yugioh.wikia.com is a good
place to look). But when I first saw this card,
I thought of a different deck theme that could
abuse his power...
A Reptile/Vennominaga Deck.
Vennominaga the Deity of Poiosnous Snakes
benefits tremendously from this card, because it
can instantly get 3 Reptile-Type monsters into
the Graveyard, and thus give her an additional
1500 ATK. But what WATER/Reptiles can be used
with Skreech? Four come to mind: Granadora and
the Gagagigo Trio (Gagagigo, Giga Gagagigo, and
Gogiga Gagagigo).
Add Alien Shocktrooper and Razor Lizard to the
mix, and you have the makings of a potentially
deadly deck. If Vennominaga fails, fall back of
the bigger Gagagigo monsters, as they have more
attack points than most monsters used in today's
metagame (Giga Gagagigo: 2450 ATK; Gogiga
Gagagigo: 2950 ATK). Plus, Gogiga Gagagigo is a
Level 8 monster, giving you another target for
Trade-In besides Vennominon the King of
Poisonous Snakes.
I would honestly love to see a Reptile/Vennominaga/Beatdown
deck. It likely wouldn't survive in today's
Tier-1 metagame, but it could be a great casual
deck. Here's a sample deck list, and I invite
anyone to improve on it. But please share any
such improvements, and not just with me.
