Trading Card Game Tips from fans
January 2008
Hello Everyone!
It’s Daniel again, and I’m back with a deck fix.
I need to tell all of you that I got a few decks
from all of you, and they were great. I deck I
decided to fix for the week/month is a gadget
deck sent in by Mohammad Arfan Ali. Thanks for
sending in your deck, Mohammad. As I said, here
is the email that he sent me:
Hi,
Daniel
My
name is Mohammad Arfan Ali and I run a gadget
deck. I’m a beginner in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading
Card Game and I’ve duelled with my friends. I
started playing last year and now want to
participant in some tournaments. However, I
don’t think my deck is up to scratch.
My
gadget deck works like every gadget deck. My
strategy is to simplify the duel by using
monster removal cards to clear the field so that
my gadget monsters can attack directly while at
the same time providing me with a stream of
monsters in my hand.
Gadget Deck - Main Deck: 40 cards
Monsters: 16
1 Breaker the Magical Warrior (MFC-071)
Spells: 12
Traps: 12
At this present
moment I don’t have a side deck. I would be
grateful if you could not only help me fix my
deck, but also give me suggestions on what I
should include in my side deck.
Any tips
and suggestions you give me will be grateful. I
understand that you have kept up with the
Trading Card Game for more time than me and you
know what you are talking about.
You
can e-mail me be back on this address, and once
again thanks for all your time and help. I’ll
understand if you don’t reply to me instantly
knowing you have more important things to do but
please make an effort. You ever know in the
future. Some day I might become the next
Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game champion of the
world.
Thanks for your time,
Arfan
Now, I
will begin with the first step of my theme of
fixing decks, taking out cards that are
unrelated to the theme of the deck, or are
useless. I must remember that the theme of the
deck is gadgets.
First,
I’ll be taking a look at the monsters. The only
monsters I’ll be removing from the deck are both
copies of Dekoichi and one copy each of Cyber
Dragon and Cyber Phoenix. Phoenix does the same
thing as Dekoichi, but when it’s destroyed by
battle. Also, with Nobleman of Crossout still in
some decks, you may not be able to use his
effect. Finally, Cyber Dragon may have a great
effect, but with all that monster removal and
gadgets in the deck, a third copy would be a
dead draw since you can’t use its effect.
However, I’ll keep the other two copies in the
deck to give this deck some speed when it’s
dieing in field control.
Next are
the spells. There are only two cards that come
to my attentation in the spell section, smashing
ground and fissure. Since fissure only destroys
the lowest ATK monster on the opponent’s field,
and half the time you would have trouble with
the highest ATK monster on his field, it’s a
dead draw. This is the same reason for smashing,
but with DEF. So I’ll be removing them.
Last are
the traps. There are four traps that I’ll be
removing, the three copies of Dark Bribe and a
copy of Bottomless Trap Hole. I don’t know what
bribe’s effect is, and two holes are enough. So
they are now gone.
Here are
the cards I took out of this deck:
-2
Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive
-1
Cyber Dragon
-1
Cyber Phoenix
-1
Fissure
-1
Smashing Ground
-3 Dark
Bribe
-1
Bottomless Trap Hole
Now I’ll
be moving on to the second step of my theme,
adding in cards in the deck that will help it or
are related to the theme.
First
are the monsters. The monsters I’ll add to this
deck are Jinzo for negating traps, Snipe Hunter
for destroy cards on the field as well as
discarding monsters to the graveyard for Pot of
Avarice, and Magician of Faith for reusing
fallen spell cards. Finally, I’ll put in Card
Trooper for more chances at Avarice, Drillroid
for dealing with “can’t be destroyed by battle”
monsters, and two copies of Crystal Seer to
replace the fallen Dekoichis. Finally, two Giant
Rats to special summon gadgets to the field from
your deck, and Sangan to search out any of the
weak EARTH monsters from the deck.
Next are
the spells. The spells I’m putting in the deck
are Premature Burial for revival, and another
copy of Pot of Avarice for more chances at
drawing your key cards as well as filling your
deck back up with monsters.
Finally,
I’ll add in another Lighting Vortex for another
chance at getting rid of all of your opponent’s
monsters.
Last are
the traps. The traps I’ll add to the deck are
Ultimate Offering for extra normal summons, and
two copies of Solemn Judgement for negating
spells and other traps cards.
Here are
the cards I’ve added to this deck:
+1
Jinzo
+1
Snipe Hunter
+1
Magician of Faith
+1 Card
Trooper
+1
Drillroid
+2
Crystal Seer
+2
Giant Rat
+1
Premature Burial
+1 Pot
of Avarice
+1
Lighting Vortex
+1
Ultimate Offering
+2
Solemn Judgement
Here is
the final decklist:

There you go
everyone. My very first deck fix is done.
Remember everyone, if you want your deck fixed
by me, feel free to email me at
Kids6@Worldnet.att.net. Be sure you
follow the rules posted in my last article for
deck fixes.
Finally, I have two
things to say before I leave. I will not be
having any card combos for anyone. I am so busy
that I really don’t have the time to do any card
combos. So I will not be doing them, but I will
still be doing deck fixes. Remember, don’t be
afraid of sending in your decks to me. I will be
happy to fix them for you.
Next time, I will try
to fix another deck if I get any more decks by
email. If not, I’ll just post another article
talking about this deck or another deck of my
choice. So please keep your eyes open for my
next article.
That’s it for this
article, everyone. I hope you enjoyed it. See
you next time and goodbye.
- Daniel
