JUNE 2008

Killer Stall/Burn? Deck- David Tessman

I have come up with a great stall/burn? deck.  I don’t know what type of deck to call it, so please email me back at tessmans@comcast.net. I call it “Burning Healer.”  Here are the cards:

Monsters x 14

3 Des Koala

3 Fire Princess

3 Nimble Momonga

3 Stealth Bird

1 Mysterious Puppeteer

1 Marshmallon

Spells x14

2 Messenger of Peace

2 Rain of Mercy

2 Soul Taker

2 Upstart Goblin

1 Heavy Storm

1 Mystical Space Typhoon

1 Pot of Avarice

1 Premature Burial

1 Monster Reborn

1 Swords of Revealing Light

Traps x 12

2 Bad Reaction to Simochi

2 Ominous Fortune Telling

2 Solemn Wishes

2 The Eye of Truth

1 Gravity Bind

1 Magic Cylinder

1 Wall of Revealing Light

The strategy behind this deck is to set up Gravity Bind and Messenger of Peace to stop attacks; or you could use Wall of Revealing Light to block attacks.  One of them is backup.  High defense monsters block the 1400 attack or less monsters.  The exceptions are Marshmallon and Nimble Momonga.  Marshmallon’s ability is just plain useful, and Nimble Momonga is used to recover LP When you can’t set up the attack blockers.  Stealth Bird does damage with is ability to be repeatedly flipped, and Des Koala does damage, like Stealth Bird, but only once.  Heavy Storm is used to clear your opponent’s spells and traps when you go second, or if you need a field partially reset.  MST is used for when you need a card destroyed and you don’t want your own cards destroyed as well.  Pot of Avarice is used to restore your precious few monsters, and substitutes for pot of greed.  Premature Burial and Monster Reborn are used to bring back monsters when you’ve already use Pot of Avarice.  Swords of Revealing Light is a temporary stall card.  Bad Reaction to Simochi is the staple card for this deck.  Play it with Eye of Truth, Ominous Fortune Telling, Gravity Bind, Messenger of Peace, Rain of Mercy, Soul Taker, and Upstart Goblin.  Any of those cards go with it, but leave open a space for the normal spells.  Solemn Wishes goes with Fire Princess, and so does Rain of Mercy.  Heal your self, your opponent gets damaged by 500 LP x # of Fire Princesses.  If you use Rain of Mercy, you get healed by 1000 LP, and your opponent get damaged with 1000 LP lost or more, IF (big “if” there) Bad Reaction to Simochi is in play on your side of the field.  If your opponent has spell card(s) in his/her hand, and Bad Reaction to Simochi is in play on your field, they take 1000 LP damage; with Ominous Fortune Telling, they take 1700 LP damage.  Mysterious Puppeteer is used to heal yourself and hurt your opponent if Fire Princess is active on your field.  That about sums up my deck. Please email me back about what you think.

Hope you enjoy it,

David Tessman
