Trading Card Game Tips from fans
JUNE 2008
Hello, everyone. Master of Shadows once again, and this time, I have a treat for you besides the fact that it's another deck fix. While fixing decks, I came across a deck that was dedicated to playing its theme in this format filled with Dark Armed Dragon, Gladiator Beasts, Lightsworn, and occasionally Six Samurai. Someone was dedicated to running their theme, so I decided that I'd do a deck fix of one of my own decks, a personal favorite, so first, I present to you my favorite deck (but not the one I use for tournaments, etc.), Pikeru's Little Friends. Pikeru's Little Friends V 6.3 - Total: 41 Monsters: 14 This deck was originally built as a Pikeru-based deck (because Pikeru is my favorite card - don't ask) with Chaos Sorcerer supporting it...back in the summer of 2006, before Chaos Sorcerer was banned. Ever since, I've been trying to perfect this deck while still maintaining the main theme: Use Pikeru and her friends to Burn the opponent and either do so very quickly or stall long enough to Burn the opponent away. The main problem with this deck that I've seen is its lack of consistency and the fact that it can be a bit slow to draw everything. Temporary stall is one solution, but it takes up quite a bit of space that can otherwise be used for draw power and whatnot. Pikeru really needs help here. Well, myself, thank you for "sending" in that deck for me to fix. So there you have it, everyone. My personal favorite deck based on my personal favorite card, White Magician Pikeru. Even though I know I couldn't actually carry out some of the deck fixes I'm about to suggest (because I don't have some of the cards I'm about to suggest), I'm going to suggest them anyway. Cards that aren't helping Pikeru out too much: - 1 Fire Trooper - 1 Arcana Force 0 - The Fool - 1 Lightning Vortex - 1 Heavy Storm - 1 Poison of the Old Man - 1 Waboku - 1 Just Desserts I cut 7 cards from this. Fire Trooper because it's a one-shot thing, even though most of the cards here are. Arcana Force 0 - The Fool because Marshmallon's better. Lightning Vortex because destroying monsters isn't our goal here. Heavy Storm because we don't want to kill off what's protecting us. Poison of the Old Man because it, too, is a one-shot thing that won't help us too much. Waboku in favor of another Threatening Roar. Just Desserts for another Secret Barrel. Cards to help Pikeru out: + 1 Marshmallon + 1 Stealth Bird + 1 Wave-Motion Cannon + 2 Messenger of Peace + 1 Threatening Roar + 1 Secret Barrel Marshmallon, Threatening Roar, and Secret Barrel have all been explained away already. Stealth Bird over Fire Trooper for a more constant source of Burn. On the other hand, I could go with 2 Fire Trooper over 2 Stealth Bird for that guaranteed 1000 per Fire Trooper instead of having to wait a turn for Stealth Bird's 1000 when Stealth Bird's not guaranteed to survive until then. Wave-Motion Cannon to help me draw it faster and do more damage to end the game faster. Messenger of Peace as a more continuous way to protect Pikeru (and Curran and Des Lacooda). Other cards I could possibly put in here: Dimension Wall (watered down Magic Cylinder) Des Koala (more Burn) Princess of Tsurugi (more Burn, monster form Just Desserts for Spells / Traps) Tremendous Fire Vengeful Bog Spirit (to buy a turn of time) Plethora of Counter Traps - Solemn Judgment, Dark Bribe, Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell, Magic Drain, Seven Tools of the Bandit (protect my cards) Limit Reverse (bring back Fire Trooper / Stealth Bird or Des Lacooda for another go) Crystal Seer (to speed things up - surprised I didn't think of it before; in fact, a Wave-Motion Cannon can be dropped for one and the other can just be added) Well, there you have it. I fixed my own deck, people. I'll stick with my deck no matter what. I did what I could for it, despite the fact that a lot of the cards I suggested I don't have extras of to use here or just don't have. Until then, things remain as they are. I hope you enjoyed this. Questions, comments, suggestions, suggestions for articles, deck fixes, praise, etc. can be sent to darkdestructionv30@yahoo.com Until next time....
