Trading Card Game Tips from fans
JUNE 2008 Well, here is my Yubel deck!
Yubel – Caleb Incarnate – 40
cards -Caleb Caleb, I see you’ve been attracted to the Yubel theme. With the new Limit Reverse it is even better, and this deck could be quite competitive. However, your deck does not seem to be the most efficient or speedy of builds. It could use quite some tampering with. I’d have been tempted to back it with Destiny Heroes without your monetary limits, but a more traditional build is still effective. I’m going to start by slimming down the monster lineup. The Grave Squirmers and Newdorias seem unnecessary (the new build is going to be more focused on the Doom Shaman combo), while you don’t need Shadowpriestess of Ohm – it can only upgrade Terror Incarnate, and that’s something you want to force your opponent to do. Infernal Gainer seems somewhat unnecessary – it is yet another card with limited utility which synergises with only one form of Yubel (the Ultimate Nightmare). Dasher looks extremely unsupported now, so that’ll be my last cut, stripping the monster lineup down to the bare bones. To finish up, I’ll be adding searchability, so you’ll only need two Yubel. I have to say, the spells actually look sound. I’m going to be fleshing out that lineup later, so we’ll leave it as it is. The traps also seem good. I’ll merely be stripping you of your two copies of Sakuretsu Armor, which you’ll rarely resolve this format with Lyla, Ryko, Bestiari, Gyzarus and Dark Armed Dragon running amok. Total Cuts: 15 -3 Newdoria -2 Grave Squirmer -2 Shadowpriestess of Ohm -3 Evil Hero Infernal Gainer -2 Destiny Hero – Dasher -1 Yubel -2 Sakuretsu Armor My rather brutal slimming of the monster lineup has left us with just ten monsters. I’m going to add a third Doom Shaman as a key piece of a vital combo in this deck. Next, in go two copies of Dark Grepher, who’ll help us dump the Shaman and Yubel fast. They also provide a reasonable piece of damage in the event of Terror Incarnate. Speaking of the Terror, some more cards to take advantage of it go in now. To round out the monsters, three copies of Mystic Tomato and a trio of Don Zaloog cards can provide nice synergy with each other and Incarnate, while having decent utility in case you get a bad hand. As for spells, I’m adding three Swing of Memories for the Shaman combo and a Reinforcement of the Army to search for Grepher. I’ll finish off the traps with two copies of Solemn Judgement, just in case your opponent manages to get on the attack or finds a way to stop your Yubel ownage. Total adds: 15 +1 Doom Shaman +2 Dark Grepher +3 Mystic Tomato +3 Don Zaloog +3 Swing of Memories +1 Reinforcement of the Army +2 Solemn Judgement That leaves the final list thus:
Yubel –
Your Opponent’s Nightmare – 40 cards 2 Dark Grepher 3 Mystic Tomato 3 Don Zaloog 3 Swing of Memories
1 Reinforcement of the Army This build is more focused, balanced and competitive, so I wish you the best with it. If you’d like your deck reviewed, e-mail me at ice-eyes@live.com. More details can be found here.
