Deck Fix: Solar Flare Strike - Master of Shadows

Another day, another deck fix. Okay, another week, another deck fix. That's a bit more accurate. It's Master of Shadows, back after a week of college orientation, but that's not too important. There's another deck fix here, and as usual, you get the message: 

Hey my name is Leo and I have been yugiohing since legend of blue eyes.  But i haven't picked up a pack in a couple of years, and i want to get back into the swing of things.  I know my cards are old, but i think that some of the combos are solid.

 

Strategy:  My main goal is summoning 2, or more, Solar Flare Dragons.  I also have many magic/traps that inflict heavy damage to my opponent. 

 

 

note: When I play, the rules don't involve banned lists, or we have a certain number of banned cards.

Another Burn deck. This must be my week. I love Burn decks. I hate facing them, but I love using and fixing them. This will be fun. This time, we have a deck based on Solar Flare Dragon. There are a lot of unnecessary cards here, but that's what I'm here for, so let's fix this, shall we? 

Cards to be burned from the deck: 

- 1 Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch

- 1 Cyber Jar

- 1 Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys

- 1 Hand of Nephthys

- 1 Inferno

- 1 Magician of Faith

- 1 Witch of the Black Forest

- 1 Meteor of Destruction

- 1 Nobleman of Crossout

- 1 Pot of Greed

- 1 Raigeki

- 1 Graceful Charity

- 1 Nightmare Wheel

- 1 Bottomless Trap Hole

- 1 Solemn Wishes

- 1 Draining Shield

- 1 Negate Attack

- 1 Ring of Destruction 

I cut 18 cards from the deck, leaving just 22 cards here. Even though you only had 40 cards in the deck (which is good), you had many, many different cards in here which will adversely affect the deck's performance and cause it to vary from duel to duel, something that's not a good thing. You want a Solar Flare Dragon lock as soon as possible, but it's nice to have a back up plan in the form of more Burn, so let's find things to add to this, shall we?

+ 1 Marshmallon

+ 2 Ultimate Baseball Kid

+ 2 Des Lacooda

+ 2 Wave-Motion Cannon

+ 1 Spiritual Fire Art - Kurenai

+ 2 Threatening Roar

+ 2 Solemn Judgment 

I added 19, bringing you up to 41. You actually had a lot of the Burn cards in here necessary. Now, getting 2+ Solar Flare Dragons on the field, while it has its payoffs, is a somewhat difficult task, especially when the opponent knows what you're doing and will already have an answer or two for your Solar Flare Dragons (like Torrential Tribute and Lightning Vortex), the other Burn cards are here to cover what Solar Flare Dragon can't. Fire Trooper for an instant 1000 points of damage, even when summoned by UFO Turtle. (Just checked the ruling - it's a Trigger Effect and the sending's a cost.) Lava Golem and Des Koala for more Burn. Marshmallon for the stall and more Burn. Des Lacooda for a draw engine provided you can protect it. Ultimate Baseball Kid to help deal that last bit of damage to your opponent. Wave-Motion Cannon for bigger Burn. Messenger of Peace, Level Limit - Area B, and Threatening Roar to stall and protect your monsters. Solemn Judgment to protect your protection and Wave-Motion Cannon. 

Well, that's about all I have. I cut the banned cards, even though you do use them, to give me a bit more room to work with. Raigeki isn't needed. Pot of Greed and Ring of Destruction (and maybe Witch of the Black Forest) you could get away with. Graceful Charity, too. Cut Des Lacooda for the draw cards and cut 1 Just Desserts for the Ring. The others I'm not sure about. Have fun and enjoy.
