Intelligent Costa Mesa Discussion- Squirrelmanajh

I am here to discuss what Shonen Jump Costa Mesa has done for Yugioh.  I will be discussing the tournament and some metagame trends.

First off, I'd like to say congratulations to Lazaro Bellido on winning the greatest Shonen Jump ever.  No one else, except maybe Jerry Wang, deserved the victory more.  He dueled tremendously throughout the tournament and truly deserved to win.

Next, I'd like to say great job to Metagame's staff with their coverage of the tourney.  They did a truly great job with this one.

Now to the actual article.  I think one thing is clear after SJCM: Dark Armed Dragon is too broken.  If you have not seen any of the duels from the tourney, I will sum up how they went.  Player 1 summons Stratos or Armegeddon Knight, ends.  Player 2, does the same, but gets 3 darks in the graveyard with D-Draws.  Out comes DAD, his effect is used, Dimension Fusion is activated and the duel is over.  This happened almost every duel, so expect it to continue for 6 months or until someone comes up with a counter.

Dark Armed Dragons decks are too good.  The only way to beat one is to use one usually.  The ability to win any turn is crazy good and the Phantom Darkness exclusives made it even better.  Allure of Darkness and Darklord Zerato enable a DAD user to completely and utterly ruin everything on an opponent's field, which in turn allows for the OTK.  Without and emergency ban, which I don't see happening any time soon, the next six months will all be the exact same.

Another card that is too good is DMoC.  The moves that someone can make with him are absolutely amazing, but not for the opponent.  Monster Reborn him, get back Monster Reborn, then Reborn Disc Commander or another powerful monster (Jinzo is really good here) and the duelist now has an incredible field.  Obviously for the next ban list, DMoC will be banned because he is so powerful.  And one more tidbit, anyone who says Monster Reborn is fine being back is completely and utterly retarded.  It is too powerful and should have stayed banned.

If you are someone who plans on attending a Shonen Jump in the near future, you should probably have a DAD deck or another deck that will win in 1 or 2 turns.  If you are only a casual player, then you don't have to worry as much, just don't expect to win many locals for awhile.

The power of Dark decks is just too great, until something is done every Shonen Jump will be the exact same.  Hopefully,  someone can find a way to defeat the Dragon, but until that day, I just have to say, 'good luck'.

I will be posting another article breaking down Lazaro's deck, so if you want to see why it is so good, check it out.  Any Q's or C's just email me at ram1626@peoplepc.com.  You can also send me decks and I will help ya with them.
Thanks for reading. Hope you enjoyed it.
