Rainbow Dark Dragon Turbo - captainkirk
I thought I would start this week off
with a bang and put out two articles with completely
different deck styles.
For my second article I decided that I would take a
look at a Rainbow Dark Dragon deck. I used the
version that Lance Leonhardt ran at Shonen Jump
Costa Mesa as a template and tweaked the deck. The
parts I changed are what I believe were causing the
problems for the deck. The deck list is below and I
will explain my changes.
Monsters: 22
1 Berserk Dragon
1 Dark Magician of Chaos
3 Demise, King of Armageddon
3 Destiny Hero – Dogma
3 Destiny Hero – Plasma
1 Doomsday Horror
3 Grinder Golem
1 Phantom of Chaos
3 Rainbow Dark Dragon
1 Sangan
1 Sky Scourge Norleras
1 The Dark Creator
Spells: 20
1 Card Destruction
2 Destiny Draw
3 Hand Destruction
1 Heavy Storm
1 Giant Trunade
3 Monster Gate
3 Reasoning
3 Recurring Nightmare
3 Trade-In
First you will notice that I dropped two Sky Scourge
Norleras. I did this so that I could add in a
Doomsday Horror which will allow me to use Rainbow
Dark Dragon a second time if need be. The second
change I made was to drop one Destiny Draw to add in
Heavy Storm. The third thing that I did was add in a
Giant Trunade as an extra back row removal card.
Now that I have told you what I changed I will
explain why. I know that Phantom of Chaos is suppose
to be the saving grace that takes Demise’s effect
and clears the field, but what happens if you do not
have Phantom of Chaos in your hand and your opponent
only has two back row cards? Now Heavy Storm or
Giant Trunade can be played to give that Rainbow
Dark Dragon the opening it needs to destroy the
field. Seeing as it is a special summon as well, you
can still normal summon. This is why I included the
Doomsday Horror, so that you do not have to remove
every dark monster from your graveyard or if there
is a monster on the field Doomsday can attack the
monster first giving the Rainbow Dark Dragon the
chance to push through for game.
Now I am sure all the draw hungry duelists are
wondering why I took out a single Destiny Draw,
right? I took it out in favor or a more consistent
back row removal. There are still nine cards in the
deck that replace your hand or let you draw cards
for a discard. That is almost one fourth of the deck
is just for drawing cards!
If you are curious how the deck works basically what
you do is dump all monsters to your graveyard and
then summon Phantom of Chaos to remove Demise and
blow up the field or you can use Heavy Storm or
Giant Trunade without summoning. Then you remove
seven different Dark monsters to special summon
Rainbow Dark Dragon. Now you either can attack for
game if the field is open or you summon that
Doomsday Horror in your hand to attack the monster
to allow you to attack for game. This deck is
capable of winning on turn one, but should
consistently win by turn three for sure. In a format
ere speed is everything, this deck will hold its
own.
I would like to thank everyone for checking in once
again to view my article and I hope that it has
given you another idea on a type of deck for this
format that does not involve Allure of Darkness or
Dark Armed Dragon.
You can contact me below or just private message me
through the forums. I will gladly review decks and
make suggestions or if someone wants a card reviewed
that they do not feel gets enough credit, I will
gladly do that as well.
