Chaosmech-- Light Asura OTK
Yo,
Tribute/SS: 4
Morphing Jar x1
Monster Reborn x1
Reinforcement of the Army x1
Total cards: 43 This deck is designed to function not only as an engine for the OTK, which I'll explain in detail in a little bit, but it can also function on its own as a beatdown strategy with a hint of Lightsworn. The Lightsworn monsters actually run pretty well with the Divine Sword Phoenix Blades, as they'll be dumped rather often by Jain, Ryko and Garoth. Also, by using Lightsworn, there's an easier way to get Warriors in the grave to fuel said Phoenix Blades, and those in turn prove to be the main fuel for D.D.R. and Armed Changer. In addition, by including three copies of Freed the Brave Wanderer, the deck now has a way to kill those bigger monsters it's incapable of disposing of through battle.
There are two ways to OTK with this deck. The first is the obvious RftDD swarm. By removing all those monsters with Phoenix Blade and Freed (and believe me, you'll ALWAYS have monsters to remove), you can set up the RFG pile for a Rftdd swarm and kill. Not to mention that your opponent will no doubt be using their D.D. Crows on Honest as soon as they figure out what's going on. More monsters removed for the swarm. If push comes to shove, you can blow away their monsters with a special summoned copy of Kuraz and let them draw 2 cards. What do those 2 cards matter if you're winning that turn?
The other thing you can do is also the heart of the deck, and the huge surprise to anyone who hasn't read this article. You need at least two cards in hand, Asura Priest and Armed Changer, and Divine Sword Phoenix Blade and Honest either in the grave or in your hand (if Phoenix Blade is in the grave, you'll also need 2 Warriors to pull this off).
The awesome thing about this combo is that a) it's new and (as far as I know) original, so nobody will expect it, and b) the more monsters your opponent has, the better. Allow me to demonstrate what could be possibly one of the worst fields to have against a Gladiator Beast deck. Observe:
Gyzarus Murmillo Bestiari Laquari (boosted) Darius
--empty field--
Looks hopeless, right? Wrong.
Normally, with Asura in hand, the best you could hope for is 900 damage from Murmillo, 200 from Bestiari, and suicide with Darius. But you'd still be staring down a Gyzarus and a 2100 ATK Laquari which would kill you the following turn.
Not a problem! Simply return the Phoenix Blade in your grave by removing two warriors, then summon Asura Priest. Activate Armed Changer, discarding Phoenix Blade, and attack your opponent's Murmillo. 900 damage so far.
Use the effect of Armed Changer to add one monster with less ATK than your Asura Priest to your hand. In this case, I'd choose Honest. Then, attack your opponent's Gyzarus. Yes, go after the biggest monster first; it works out better. Discard Honest to boost Asura by 2400 ATK, leaving it with 4100 ATK and inflicting 1700 damage to your opponent for a total of 2600 damage. So far, so good.
But it doesn't stop there. You can now re-add Honest to your hand, then go after the Laquari, boosting by 2100 to get to 6200 ATK and inflicting 4100 damage to your opponent. You have now done 6700 damage and added Honest to your hand in order to once again repeat the cycle.
Attack Darius, discard Honest, boost by 1700 to 7900 ATK and inflict 6200 damage to your opponent. You have already reached a total of 12900 damage, and you're not even finished. Add Honest back to your hand.
Attack Bestiari, repeat the previous steps, and boost by 1500 to a whopping 9400 ATK and inflicting another 7900 damage to the opponent for a grand total of 20800 damage and a clear opposing field. And you have Honest back in your hand to do it all again just in case your opponent somehow survived that.
Naturally, this OTK is a bit hard to go with. Lightsworn don't have the awesome draw power and speed that Teleport Dark Armed does, but at the same time, this is almost specifically designed to counter the large number of monsters that TDA summons/can summon. It can beat down Gladiator Beasts with its higher attack, and should your opponent pull some Gyzarus/Heraklinos shenanigans, you can run them over with a Light monster and Honest.
Think it's genius? Think it sucks? Think I'm absolutely insane? Want a deck fix? Want to fix this deck? Have any suggestions, comments, witty remarks, critiques, or just want to talk about the game? Feel free! My email is chaosmech@hotmail.com and I check it every day. I will reply to every person who emails me, and flames will be replied to in kind. Not saying I don't take flames, but just be prepared if you decide to.
Until next time, keep it cool. Chaosmech
