Chaosmech-- Batteryman OTK with a twist

Hey all.

This is Chaosmech/Chaosmech_Neo, depending on what username I am using at the time. It's been a LONG time since I've posted anything here on Pojo (though I have been keeping current with the newest sets). I have been saving up a crapload of decklists for you, and this is the first of many submissions to Pojo. The first is a Batteryman OTK with a new twist that I think might make the deck a bit more reliable. I'll explain below. Here's the decklist.

Tribute/SS:5

Batteryman Industrial Strength x2

Batteryman Charger x2

The Creator x1

Non-tribute: 15

Batteryman AA x3

Batteryman C x3

Cyber Valley x3

Batteryman D x3

Batteryman Micro-cell x3

Spells: 15

Battery Charger x3

Short Circuit x3

Inferno Reckless Summon x3

Monster Reborn x1

Card of Safe Return x2

Machine Duplication x2

Traps: 7

DNA Surgery x3

Ultimate Offering x1

Portable Battery Back x3

I know what you’re thinking. Batteryman C? Are you crazy?

Yes. Yes I am.

Now that that’s out of the way, let me explain myself. Better yet, I’ll let Batteryman C’s effect speak for itself:

Batteryman C

Thunder/LIGHT/**/0/0

Effect: If all "Batteryman C"(s) on your side of the field are in Attack Position, increase the ATK of all Machine-Type monsters on your side of the field by 500 points for each "Batteryman C" on your side of the field. If all "Batteryman C"(s) on your side of the field are in Defense Position, increase the DEF of all Machine-Type monsters on your side of the field by 500 points for each "Batteryman C" on your side of the field.

Doesn’t look so hot, does it? Batteryman AA seems to be so much better. A bigger attack boost, and it boosts itself instead of machines.

That’s why DNA Surgery is in this deck. Because, you see, when there are 3 Batteryman C on the field, they each increase the ATK of all Machines on your field by 1500 EACH. That’s 1500 times 3, which is a 4500 ATK increase. And if you turn every monster on the field into a Machine with DNA Surgery, you now have 3 Batterymen whose ATK are all 4500. That beats out 3 Batteryman AA by 1500 ATK apiece. For those of you who can’t do the math yourselves, here it is. Batteryman AA, if there are 3 on the field all in the same position, gets 3000 ATK each. If, on the other hand, Batteryman C is on the field and so is DNA Surgery, then each one of them gets 4500 ATK. So, 3000 times three is 9000. That’s the attack of two fully-powered Batteryman C. 4500 times 3 is 13500. See the difference?

Not only that, but when DNA surgery is on the field, then a single Batteryman C has, guess what? 500 ATK! A perfect target for Machine Duplication! That will quickly bring the other two C’s to the field, pumping them all up to 4500. This will also in turn allow me to play Short Circuit, clearing the field for the 13500 damage OTK.

But Chaosmech, you say, wouldn’t it just be easier to use Inferno Reckless Summon with Batteryman AA? Yes, it would. But that requires that you special summon the monster, and while this deck is chock-full of special summoning options, there will come a time when you don’t have an IRS in your hand to combo with that. So, by including two Machine Duplication along with 3 DNA Surgery, it’s almost like running 5 copies of your OTK strategy. Not to mention you now have 6 copies of Batterymen that can be used, instead of the normal 3.

That’s not all, either. Should you have 2 Batterymen in your grave from a previous turn, then you can special summon Batteryman Industrial Strength to clear the field and provide an extra 2600 attack.

This deck has so many ways to OTK the opponent, it’s not even funny. However, the problem is drawing all the right cards. And this is why I have Card of Safe Return (a staple in batteryman decks), Batteryman Micro-cell, and, as the final tech pick, Cyber Valley. Not only does Cyber Valley stall for some time to draw your pieces, it directly helps you there by letting you draw. Not only that, but it also combos with Machine Duplication even when you don’t have DNA surgery! Not a bad deal, I’d say.

Finally, should you have all three of one kind of Batteryman in your hand, you can use Ultimate Offering to summon all three to set up the combo. 1000 LP is a small price to pay to win the duel, right?

I would love to list every possible hand/field/graveyard combo that can win you the game, but there are so many! Besides needing Short Circuit for virtually all of them, you can have any combination of:

DNA Surgery+Batteryman C+Machine Duplication or

Special Summon+Inferno Reckless Summon+Batteryman AA or a combination of both, Special Summon+Inferno Reckless Summon+Batteryman C+DNA Surgery.

Some cards that I thought about using, but didn’t make the cut:

System Down: With DNA Surgery on the field, it’s a Lightning Vortex for 1000 LP instead of a discard. However, that only works with DNA Surgery, and that takes a turn to set up, so it didn’t make it.

Limiter Removal: Once again, this needs DNA Surgery to work effectively, but this would make attacking over monsters for game entirely possible. Imagine a Batteryman Industrial Strength with 3 Batteryman C’s on the field. That’s 2600+4500=7100. That’s nearly game right there! Add in its ability to wipe a monster and a S/T card off the field, and you have a nearly unbeatable combo! If you added Limiter Removal to the mix, you now have three 9000 ATK monsters and a 14200 ATK monster. Ridiculous. Throw it in if you think you can make it work.

Super Electromagnetic Voltech Dragon: Besides having one of the longest card names in history, this is a card I really wanted to use. But its best effect is increasing its ATK by 1000, when you tribute a Batteryman AA. If you’re going to be sacrificing a Batteryman, you’ll want it to be for Batteryman Charger, so you can special summon another Batteryman to the field and possibly set off IRS, not increase a 2400 ATK monster to 3400. Although that’s not bad…

Quick Charger: While the prospect of adding Batterymen back to the hand is tempting, it would be better to special summon them, providing one more way to use IRS. Portable Battery Pack is much more useful than this, despite its being a trap rather than a quick-play spell, simply because it brings the Batterymen to the field. I might have included it had I had room, but I didn’t.

Now for the tech picks for this deck.

Cyber Valley: I already explained this one, but to review: it provides stall and draw, and combos well with Machine Duplication.

Machine Duplication: Although this may seem like circular logic, this is in there really for Cyber Valley. At least, that’s why there are two copies instead of one. The first copy is for the DNA Surgery + Batteryman C combo.

The Creator: Why not? Using Portable Battery Pack gets you the two tributes you need, and this is a draw-cycling engine with CoSR on the field. More so if you have multiple copies. Plus, it provides yet another way to special summon Batterymen. Seeing a trend here? Finally, it’s a Thunder-type monster, and if it hits the graveyard, you won’t be able to get it back again. At this point, it would be safe to remove it for Batteryman Industrial Strength’s effect and let it serve its final usefulness.

Think it's good? think it's bad? Think I'm nuts? Want a deck fix? Want to fix this deck? Any other questions? Direct them all to chaosmech@hotmail.com.

Until next time, this is

Chaosmech
