Fiends of Destiny - yame3nman
Hey guys,
what's going on? This is actually my first article
or "tip" that I'm writing on pojo. I have been
playing Yugioh pretty much since the beginning. But
I've started going to locals and playing
competitively only a couple of years ago. Anyways,
I've built a deck that I haven't actually tried out
at my tournament but I dueled casually against some
good decks and it did pretty well. Basically this
deck is a Fiend Deck with a Destiny Hero draw engine
and here's the list:
Deck 40:
Monsters 23:
3 Caius The Shadow Monarch
2 The Dark Creator
1 Darklord Zerato
1 Sky Scourge Norleras
1 Gorz The Emissary of Darkness
1 Dark Armed Dragon
1 Doom Shaman
2 Destiny Hero - Malicious
1 Destiny Hero - Diamond Dude
1 Destiny Hero - Doom Lord
1 Destiny Hero - Dasher
1 Elemental Hero Stratos
1 Sangan
1 Phantom of Chaos
1 Snipe Hunter
1 Plaguespreader Zombie
1 Necro Gardna
1 Armageddon Knight
1 Dark Grepher
Spells 13:
3 Destiny Draw
2 Allure of Darkness
1 Reinforcement of the Army
1 Heavy Storm
1 Lightning Vortex
1 Brain Control
1 Monster Reincarnation
1 Different Dimension Reincarnation
1 Reasoning
1 Monster Gate
Traps 4:
1 Mirror Force
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Call of the Haunted
1 Phoenix Wing Wind Blast
Extra Deck 15:
3 Stardust Dragon
2 Colossal Fighter
1 Thought Ruler Archfiend
1 Red Dragon Archfiend
1 Light End Dragon
1 Black Rose Dragon
1 Goyo Guardian
2 Gaia Knight, the Force of the Earth
2 Iron Chain Dragon
1 Magical Android
The strategy behind this deck is to basically dump
darks into the grave (like any dark deck) and in the
end finish them off with either Dark Armed Dragon or
The Dark Creator and do it fast. My favorite play to
do when I have exactly 5 darks in the graveyard is
to summon Creator to summon out Doom Shaman, drop
DAD, and then Gemeni summon Doom Shaman, getting
another monster out who is a fiend and then going
for game.
Now let's talk about the monsters that look unusual
or controversial in this sort of deck starting with
Dasher. He's in the deck for an extra d-draw target
and to help out Caius with tributing and is a good
discarding card or to occasionally special summon
Doom Shaman or Zerato, or anything else that is
allowed to be special summoned, for that matter. Now
Zerato and the Sky Scourge are mostly there for the
Phantom of Chaos, plus Zerato is great to get out
with Dark Creator after dumping him or by bringing
him out with Reasoning or Monster Gate.
In this deck I have noticed that Phantom of Chaos is
very versatile because he can take advantage of a
whole bunch of monsters including DAD, Dark Creator,
Darklord Zerato, Sky Scourge, Grepher, Snipe Hunter,
and even Diamond Dude. Speaking of Diamond Dude, as
you may have noticed, all but one of my 13 spells in
this deck are normal making it a good chance that
he'll hit something with his effect. Now the
Malicious is mostly here for tribute fodder for
Cauis and to synchro with Plaguespreader Zombie.
A couple of the spells that might catch your eye as
unusual are Monster Reincarnation, Reasoning, and
Monster Gate. Reincarnation is there for graveyard
control, to discard dumpable monsters from my hand,
and to reuse cards like The Dark Creator, Stratos,
DAD, Caius, and Dark Grepher.
Now people might hate on the Reasoning and Monster
Gate in this deck, but I'd have to say that they
both work great in the deck. Reasoning helps with
field presence and with tribute summoning. And
Monster Gate is here so that I can pop a Sangan, a
Gorz token, Phantom of Chaos or Zerato (after using
their effects), or even on a Malicious or
Plaguespreader if I have to and it's a great card to
hit with Diamond Dude since tributing a monster is a
cost meaning that next turn, you'd get a free
monster since Monster Gate activates in the
graveyard. Plus both Reasoning and Monster Gate are
good cards to dump the Creators, DAD, and the Sky
Scourge; or even D-Draws if you're out of D-Heroes.
I think that the traps are all staple for this kind
of deck. But as you might notice, I'm only running
one wind blast instead of the usual two, just
because I think two would be an overkill. The extra
deck really doesn't matter though, because with this
deck, the max amount of synchros you'll summon per
duel is 3 or 4, if you're lucky. As long as you've
got a couple of Stardust Dragons, Colossal Fighter,
Thought Ruler Archfiend and Goyo Guardian, you'd be
fine.
