Looking at Old Decks: Justin Womack

For Nationals 2007, in an age dominated by Monarchs and Machine Aggro, Justin Womack shocked his opponents by bringing an innovative Dark World Aggro deck. Many hailed it as the best deck in Nationals. The deck was very powerful. This was the list:

3 Card Trooper
3 Cyber Dragon
3 Cyber Phoenix
3 Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World
3 Injection Fairy Lily
1 Jinzo
1 Morphing Jar

3 Brain Control
1 Card Destruction
3 Dark World Lightning
1 Heavy Storm
1 Limiter Removal
3 Machine Duplication
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Nobleman of Crossout
1 Nobleman of Extermination
1 Premature Burial
1 Snatch Steal

1 Call of the Haunted
1 Ceasefire
3 Dimension Wall
1 Magic Cylinder
1 Ring of Destruction

As you can see, the deck was incredibly aggressive, combining the old Machine Aggro with powerful Dark World cards. In addition, it ignored "ratios" of DW cards to discarders. Instead of an "optimal" discard engine, he used what would be the most aggresive. This is because you can Tribute summon Goldd, and you could discard other cards to use Dark World Lightning. Also, note the incredible speed of this deck, which used 3x Machine Duplication.

For futher analysis of his build, follow this link her; http://yugioh.tcgplayer.com/db/article.asp?id=1945

Now, I will show you my build, which I have modified for this format.

I've replaced the banned cards with cards that fit into this enviroment. Also, I added 3x Sillva, and 3x Dark World Dealings. These contribute to speed as well as field presence. Other cards I've added in would be 3x Reckless Greed. In a deck with skewed ratios like this, 3x Reckless Greed is crucial, since it will let me draw into either my discarders or my Dark World monsters. I've omitted some of the staples in this deck, like Torrential Tribute and Call of the Haunted, because I have a lot of card destruction in the form of Dark World Lightning, as well as quick summoning methods in the form of Reasoning, Dark World cards, and Rescue Cat. A lot of people will say this deck is bad because of these different additions. I'd recommend testing it before you say anything. It tested really well for me, but it is weak to Lightsworn decks. Because of this, I'd recommend this deck mostly in fun play situations, or if you really like it, you could take it to Regionals.

Deck Analysis: For this deck, I will analyze the M/S/T/E all in their own groups, instead of focusing on certain cards like I normally do.

Monsters:
We have a very aggressive lineup in the monsters. The 6 DW cards allow for quick aggression and swarming. Airbellum is the strongest 3 * Tuner monster in terms of attack and effect, and so is Gale. These cards allow for Aggression, and making Stardusts. Like Womack, I use 3x Injection Fairy Lily. This is both good and bad, since it allows for an incredible amount of damage, but also makes this deck a glass cannon, in that it is poor at defense. As a result, this deck is actually more effective against normal decks, but loses to decks running "outdated" tech cards, such as Shrink, Snipe Hunter, and other similar cards. Shadowpriestess of Ohm also contributes to aggression. She can be used to make Arcanite, and often, I will burn all my cards away to win games. Morphing Jar allows me to summon more Dark World monsters, and replinishes my hand. Summoner Monk can tutor Cat for Arcanites, and Shodowpriestess for game wins.

Spells:
The discarder cards, although ran in a ratio different from standard DW decks, do not hurt the deck at all. This is because I can draw new cards and discard cards unneeded at the time. Mostly standard Spells, but Card Destruction summons more DW cards. Reasoning can net me a monster. I run a fair number of different levels, so it will usually work.

Traps:
This is the interesting part of the deck. 3x Reckless Greed stops this deck from being inconsistent, since I can draw into more discarders. The remaining part of the deck is burn. This is for the late game, when LP is low, and I can suddenly turn the game around with a well placed Dimension Wall (also abbreviated DW.) This sudden game winning situation will be how the deck wins most of its games.

Extra:
3x Tempest Magician help me win games faster. The rest is mostly standard, but 3x Arcanite is there for monster destruction, and she is so easy to make anyways.
