Card Game Tips from fans Budget Twilight V2 December 7, 2009
Hey, it’s RikotheFoxKid here with my second article!
So, since I wrote my last article, I have left the
competitive metagame. I’m a casual player now. But that
doesn’t stop me from using my awesome Budget Twilight Deck!
And since my first article, I have been secretly working on
my Twilight Deck. And now this version is quite different
than the original.
This version contains Honest and Charge of the Light
Brigade. I don’t have those cards yet, but have every
intention of getting 3 each.
With reprints of Charge and Honest, the only expensive LS
card is Judgment Dragon.
So, here is version 2 of my Budget Twilight Deck:
Monsters: (25)
1 x Dark Armed Dragon
1 x Gorz the Emissary of Darkness
1 x Guardian of Order
2 x Celestia, Lightsworn Angel
2 x Chaos Sorcerer
2 x Aurkus, Lightsworn Druid
1 x Blackwing – Gale the Whirlwind
3 x Honest
3 x Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner
2 x Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress
2 x Necro Gardna
2 x Phantom of Chaos
1 x Plaguespreader Zombie
2 x Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter
The Honest in this build replace the Breaker and 2 Wulf in
my current build.
This is pretty straightforward. Guardian of Order is an
obvious substitute for JD. I lack a 3rd Necro
Gardna, though I’d probably drop a Phantom for it.
Nothing abnormal besides that.
Spells: (12)
2 x Allure of Darkness
3 x Charge of the Light Brigade
1 x Heavy Storm
1 x Monster Reincarnation
2 x Pot of Avarice
3 x Solar Recharge
The Charges in this build replace the 2 Foolish Burial and
Gold Sarcophagus in my current build.
As I mentioned in my last article, Pot of Avarice works well
when you don’t have JD. If JD was in the Deck, I’d probably
have some Gold Sarcophagus there instead.
Contrary to what I said in my last article, Allure is
actually very good in Twilight. This time around, you have
more DARKs to mill, and you have enough where losing one
won’t hurt (unless it’s DAD, but you shouldn’t be using
Allure if he’s the only DARK in your hand).
Monster Reincarnation is actually very helpful.
You may notice the absence of Brain Control. I don’t see it
as absolutely necessary. You’re already controlling the
field enough.
That’s all there is for Spells.
Now for Traps:
Traps: (3)
1 x Call of the Haunted
1 x Mirror Force
1 x Torrential Tribute
Wait, whut? My last build had seven Traps! Well, I finally
realized that Traps and Lightsworns don’t mix too well. So I
just threw in what are in my opinion the three best Traps.
So yeah, nothing to explain here.
As before, the Extra Deck is personal preference.
As is the Side Deck, but here’s the idea I have for a Side
Deck:
1 x Obelisk the Tormentor
1 x The Dark Creator
1 x Tragoedia
1 x Celestia, Lightsworn Angel
1 x Gragonith, Lightsworn Dragon
3 x Wulf, Lightsworn Beast
1 x Brain Control
2 x Foolish Burial
1 x Giant Trunade
1 x Gold Sarcophagus
1 x Monster Reincarnation
1 x Mystical Space Typhoon
Due to the swarming capabilities of Lightsworns, I see
Obelisk the Tormentor as a very good addition to a Twilight
Deck.
The Dark Creator is a high-risk, high-reward card. If you
manage to actually get it out, it’s great. But getting it
out is the challenge itself.
Gragonith is for the instance in which there is Light
Imprisoning Mirror, seeing how his ATK boost is unaffected
by it.
So tell me what you guys think.
