Bad Trades and Rip Offs by Baneful
I've seen a lot of ripping and lots of unfair deals.
I can totally understand if one side is
willing to give a little bit more because time is
urgent.
Deals where one side easily profits at least $10-20
of value within a single-trade are clearly
rip-off's.
I've been ripped before.
I've traded a third of my binder of holo's
for a Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys at the time of it's
release, probably losing $50 of value in my
collection with that one trade.
And I've traded some valuable holos for
commons I thought I needed.
In the distant past, I've been that ripper before.
No, I didn't deliberately decieve anybody but
I did bank on some one-sided deals and I felt
horrible about it afterwards.
When all's said and done, I might've lost $500 to
$1000 worth of card value in my young dueling career
due to bad deals.
Including internet trades where the other
user (with a much better reputation than me) never
sent.
But it's important that no matter how much you've
been burned, it's not constructive or helpful to
anyone by trying to burn someone else.
Some people have the mentality that only kids should
be protected from rip-off's and that if you're over
18, you deserve to get ripped off because you are
stupid.
While, it's important that younger kids are always
protected from adults who are looking for easy prey,
ripping people off is wrong, even if they do know
better.
I remember on one occasion where I was trading a kid
for a Mirror Force.
One guy from the shop (an acquaintance who wasn't
partial toward me) mediated the deal to make sure I
wasn't scamming him.
I gave that kid more than his fair share, but
I felt good knowing that I did it right.
