I personally hate it when we review a card that
already has a superior version. Looking at this
card's stats, you probably already know what that
card is.
It gets protection if there's another Zombie
down...and with that 400 attack it's sure going to
need it. It's a millstone when Zombies are special
summoned...but the most cards this is ever going to
mill at one time is 6 (you successfully get The
Third Sarcophagus to resolve, you sp. summon 3
Zombies from the grave, this thing gets its effect
three times.) Wow...6 cards out of the Deck. Usually
you're NOT going to Deck in this game. Like...ever.
If you're going to play a Dark type that can mill,
just go with Zaloog.

This card has ups, and it has downs. With 400 ATK,
he is searchable by Tomato and Sangan but he
definitely lacks a punch. With 1500 DEF, he's also
searchable by Witch. That said, let's look at the
effects:
If there's another Zombie on the field, your
opponent can't attack it. So if you get two of these
out, you've created a lock similar to that of
Marauding Captain and Solar Flare Dragon. That's
pretty good; with relatively crappy stats, it's
important to keep these alive somehow.
The second effect, though, is fairly mediocre; you
get to get rid of two cards on your opponent's deck
whenever a Zombie is Special Summoned. Granted,
Zombie decks DO Special Summon a lot, with Vampire
Lord and Books of Life; but even if you do Special
Summon something with one or two of these on the
field, the effect is nothing spectacular. In a
regular Zombie deck, it's practically useless; but
in a Zombie deck focused on Deck Destruction (which
is possible now, thanks to Vampire Lord and Vampire
Lady) it could certainly be useful.
Is it a must? No, but its first effect creates a
nice little lock; and the second one might be worth
it sometimes.
Typical tournament deck: 2/5
Zombie Deck Destruction deck: 4/5
OVERALL RATING: 3/5 |

Soul-Absorbing Bone Tower
This is the new Zombie, and it deserves some credit.
Pros:
It can't be attacked if next to another Zombie on the
field. It also gives total deck destruction when you
Special Summon Zombies by sending 2 cards off the
opponent's deck to the Graveyard. Special Summoning
Zombies is what a Zombie does best. Either by Despair
and Fear to Call of the Mummy and Book of Life. This
card can really hurt if you do enough Special
Summoning. Another thing is that this card causes a
Marauding captain lock if there are 2 or 3 of these
out, because they are Zombies, and by being next to
each other, they help each other out. Plus, 4-6 cards
off the opponent's deck isn't bad, neither. It is also
Pyramid Turtle-able.
Cons:
Weak attack and defense don't make it too good when it
does get attacked. It also is affected by Spell and
Trap effects, too. That about all I see wrong, but I
know I'm missing something.
Overall, I give Soul-Absorbing Bone Tower a 8.5/10 in
Zombie decks and a 4/10 in other decks as most decks
don't have Zombies other than Spirit Reaper. |
