Wednesday:
Exploder Dragon
Masked Dragon just got a WHOLE lot better.
A near-guaranteed 1-for-1 with any monster out
there, without any chance of taking damage from
attacking into something stronger? Dragon lovers
have a big new reason to pull out those Dragon's
Mirrors and get 5 of 'em in the Graveyard to bring
out 5-Headed.
Not much more to say here -- it's a good card and
good support for the Dragon theme.

Wednesday
Today we look at a handy little card, that is a
promo for the World Championship 2007 game, Exploder
Dragon.
This card is definitely one of the better promos we
have received in a LONG time. It looks terrible at a
glance, Earth and Level 3 with only 1000 attack and
0 defense. Nothing to write home about there.
However, it has two awesome effects. The first being
that when it is destroyed, the monster that
destroyed it is destroyed also. That is a
1 for 1 in your favor, although with 1000 attack and
0 defense, it won't take anything powerful to
destroy it.
Secondly, if this card is involved in Battle,
neither player takes any damage. That's incredible.
So, you could attack something face down that is
stronger than you, and still not take damage,
incredible. I love this card, and I wouldn't be
surprised if this ends up being Restricted.

You stay classy, Planet Earth :) |

Exploder Dragon :
The artwork should have been either a dragon in the
process of exploding, or just charred remains! Not
family friendly, but cool none-the-less.
This adds another piece to the dragon arsenal.
Monster destruction on legs that can be found with
Sangan is fantastic. A deadly face-down can't be bad
either.
Negating battle damage is always useful. All dragons
need is a tutor and they might explode.

Exploder Dragon
4.7/5
A three star dragon who is reachable via Giant Rat
and Masked Dragon. This is one of the cards needed
to give dragon decks (and Cyberdark decks) an
advantage. Plus the effect not allowing you to take
damage if you suicide is pretty sweet too. I love
this monster and am glad I got one. If anyone wants
to trade me another I'd be happy to do so b/c this
dragon is just that good. Honestly it is a form of
offensive/defensive removal. Like Newdoria, D.D.
Assailant/Warrior/Warrior Lady you can be aggressive
and not actually be at a defense disadvantage. If he
had more attack He'd be better, sangan will just
laugh at this little guy. |

Exploder Dragon
What’s so significant about Exploder
Dragon?
He’s the Earth/Dragon version of
Newdoria.
This presents some interesting
options for the Earth or Dragon player. An effect
like this is no longer limited to the Mystic Tomato
player. Let’s fact it, not everyone wants to play
Mystic Tomato and this card lets you stay close to
your theme.
Another upside is that it’s a Dragon.
The Future Fusion/Dragon Mirror combo is enhanced by
this card. My friend Richard Clarke from Tallahassee
would love this card. ^_^
I’m sure he has 3 copies already.
The Giant Rat player also has the
nice addition of a Newdoria-like monster at his/her
disposal instead of searching for an Exiled Force.
Both Exploder Dragon and Exiled Force are good
though. Just not in the same situations. The more
options the better, I say.
Last Word:
An excellent addition to the Dragon
subtype and the Earth attribute. I love the
direction this game is going in with the new
releases. More utility for outdated themes is a
great strategy for new card ideas.

Today we look at a NEW card that gives support to
one of my all time favorite deck types!
WC07-EN002
EXPLODER DRAGON
Earth
LV3
ATK/1000 DEF/0
[Dragon/Effect]
When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to
the Graveyard, destroy the monster that destroyed
it. While this card is attacking, any Battle Damage
either player takes from a battle involving this
card becomes 0.
A dragon with 1000 attack and 0 defense. It’s
searchable by Last Will, Sangan, Giant Rat, and
Masked Dragon. So it won’t be all that hard to hit
the field.
Its effect reminds me of the when we were comparing
Yomi Ship to Newdoria back in the day. This card
can’t decide what it’s going to kill. It simply
destroys what destroys it. This can obviously be
prove to help you, or hurt you depending on what
your opponent does. Just don’t Creature Swap it.
Its second effect is both good and bad. If the
opponent has a Blue Eyes White Dragon out, you can
ram this into it. You take no damage, and they lose
the Blue Eyes. On the other hand, it is worthless to
attack the opponent directly with this, as it will
do nothing.
So, It’s pretty good for a dragon deck, especially
the Five Headed Dragon decks that are popping up
here and there. Before Exploder came out, the only
card that Masked Dragon could search for other than
Masked Dragon was Twin-Headed Behemoth. There really
wasn’t any other good targets.
So, if you run Dragons, namely Masked Dragon, you
should definitely consider running this. If you like
this type of destruction anywhere else, I’d consider
running Newdoria instead.

A dragon with a decent effect???? Uh? I don’t get
it….. Exploder Dragon is a perfectly built suicider.
Offering no support to dragons aside from FGD
fodder, he is perfectly suited to be splashed
wherever you could desire. He has two uses, either
set him and let them run into a nasty surprise, or
ram in into whatever monster that is a threat.
No drawbacks, no cost aside from a simple 1:1
tradeoff. He does his job flawlessly; you only need
to question whether or not you need that job done…
