History of Yu-Gi-Oh! Hello, my loyal fans, and welcome to yet another one of my articles. Today’s article will be focusing on making this wonderful game better in many ways, and I wanted to start this off by giving a big shout-out to everyone who e-mailed me their questions and comments; it was really cool to open up my inbox Monday morning and seeing all those e-mails about the game we all love, telling me I was spot-on. Well, you asked me how we can fix this, and I think I have the solution.
I fixed the banlist.
Read it, then read the explanations, and I’ll wait for your e-mails.

This banned list is completely revamped, maximizing the amount of decks that can be helped by it and also revitalizing the game we love, all at the same time. First, let’s talk about some changes that I implemented:
- Black Luster Soldier is back. That’s right, he’s back, and frankly he never should have been here in the first place. He’s good, but he’s easy to stop.
- Pot of Greed is back. Again, it never should have been banned, and in the metagame that we’re in right now, draw power is great. Pot of Greed is a perfect card at one-per-deck, and it should stay there.
- Metamorphosis is at three-per-deck. This is a great card that can be incredibly advantageous, or downright horrible, depending on its usage. In the hands of skilled players, it was a two-edged sword, and with the inclusion of Imperial Order, its power has been stripped away.
- Mystical Space Typhoon, Fissure and Smashing Ground at three-per-deck. None of these cards need to be at one-per-deck; at most, only MST will see play in its full play-set. The other two either won’t see play or they’ll see little, if at all.
These are just a few changes; let’s run over some of the decks this list will bring back to the top:
Last Turn: Last turn is such a great deck, with the combo of Jowgen the Spiritualist, Last Turn, and Wall of Revealing Light. It was an explosive deck, but was unfortunately cut down before its prime because of “brokenness,” I guess. Anyway, it deserves to have its time in the light, and it would create an interesting lineup to play against at a major tournament.
Spellcasters: Spellcasters would get a boost thanks to Magician of Faith (actually, all decks will) and Dark Magician of Chaos coming off the list, and they’ll provide a good matchup for anyone.
Burn/Stall: Burn makes a comeback with both Level Limit – Area B, Gravity Bind, Ojama Trio, and Spirit Reaper being able to be played in multiples.
Beast: With Green Baboon back at two-per-deck, you can expect some new Beast/Beast-Warrior builds to start hitting the tournament scene, and with some new beatstick monsters in their lineup, they could provide quite a scare.
Monster Gate/Reasoning: I love this decktype, and it never should have been decimated in the first place. It’s a great idea, and with DmoC coming back, it could be competitive once again.
Any Return of the Different Dimension build: With this card back at three-per-deck, we will begin to see Return builds coming back fast, and that’s something that this format needs.
This list will shake a lot of things up: it’ll provide more players with more options, as well as limit the amount of major decks that can sweep a format (like Gladiator Beasts and TeleDAD), because we’ll have so much more diversity in the metagame. Any deck, virtually, is fair game, and with solid support in all the listed decks (plus many more), it’ll be quite a varied approach to the game that I think we can all appreciate.
I’m going to ask you all to do something for me: try building some decks using this list, and tell me what’s powerful and what’s not. If you can do that for me, I can refine this list, and hopefully Konami and Upper Deck will listen and heed some of our comments and complaints. Play your friends utilizing this list, and let me know what you think. Talk about it on the forums, then e-mail me, and if you could, include the decklists you played with.
Remember, my e-mail is anteaus44@hotmail.com.
Thanks, Anteaus
