Just a quick list:
Color Key: green - Are cards that we have all known and abused for a long time. yellow - Are cards that have already shown themselves to have an immense impact on this meta already. red - Are cards that are beginning to have, could have, or should have a major impact on this meta. Grey - Are cards that are still solid, and just have yet to themselves as influential thus far, but are still solid cards. The thought came to me as I flipped through my deck and noticed that I was running a surprising number of level 3's. And I thought, "Hmmm Ben, isn't this interesting? I doubt that most main decks have ever played this many 3 star monsters at this level, ever." So I turned on YVD, and came up with this list. Look at what a change this new banlist has had! Now, a lot of these cards are older, and very few have seen little if any play since their release. (A large amount of them, for whatever reason, seem to be from PGD.) However, now we seem drawn to them, having lost substantially many of the cards that overshadowed them or made them unplayable. I really don't have a whole lot of point except to say, "Hey! Check this out. Cool, huh?" Spirit Reaper is decked in multiples in almost every competitive main deck. Des Wombat is in multiples in almost every side. LJM is showing himself a powerhouse. Sangan is in every deck. Ever. Yomi Ship is so abusable in this format when combined with Salvage IFL has been a beast forever. Silent Control is on the rise. Twin-Headed Behemoth is being tested with excellent results. Swarm and Swam Control has a better chance at flourishing with all the Tomatoes. I mean, I'm not going to get into every card on this list and tell you why it's good, how to abuse it, yada yada yada. But, I am going to just compliment this banlist. It has drastically expanded the pool of playable themes and monsters, as exemplified by the amount of level 3 monsters that now see play in a lot of decks. This rise is, I'm sure, due in large part to the fact that many of these monsters are control-ish in nature, and control has now been expanded since goats have left. Who knows, maybe a few tech-d gravity binds or whatnot wouldn't be an awful idea. Or maybe.... Well, I don't really know. Just look at it. Interesting, huh?
