Maltos’s Friday deck - Piercing Punishment
June 02, 2006
A few weeks ago I
constructed a control deck. For all it obvious minor flaws,
it was still a pretty decent deck, and yet I failed to
receive barely any comments on it. The same goes for my
beast deck. So last week, I didn’t bother to do one. This
week I’ve decided to try again, but if I get no responses
for this I might as well give up now, as this is the most
ingenious deck that I have ever come up with, and
potentially could obliterate any deck thrown into it. This
deck was inspired by a combo that was given birth to by my
control deck pretty much accidentally, but could potentially
rock the foundations of Yugioh.
Piercing Punishment is essentially the best name I could
come up with on short notice, but it is precisely what it
is. Using the overwhelming, yet underused concept of
piercing (or trample) and punishing the opponent for
allowing it to happen. If ever I was going to be remembered
for something, this is it ;
The monsters I use will pretty much all have something in
common, and will definitely benefit the entire deck, and for
the first time in a long while I will review EACH monster
card individually, including the staples . So, without
further ado, lets get this ball rolling:
Airknight Parshath ;
The essence of the deck, allowing for piercing as well as
its own effect of drawing. A mega advantage engine when used
in combination with some of the cards in this deck.
Mefist the Infernal General ;
The opposite complementary to Airknight. Mefist was scarcely
used ever because of its slightly lower attack, a problem
the will need to be reconciled in this deck before we can
reap any true benefit, but still when used in combination
with other cards in this deck, much like Airknight, this
card will be obscenely deadly.
Enraged Battle Ox
Arguably the best piercer in the game , this card derives
its power especially in this deck for its ability to utilise
with the next two cards.
Exarion Universe :
The best stats on a piercer that I’ve ever seen, and when
used with Enraged, even more deadly as it doesn’t require
its 400 attack loss.
Pitch Black Warwolf
The main cause for concern with this deck is attacking, as a
well placed Sakurtsu or Mirror Force could ruin everything.
This card is great as it not only eliminates these threats,
it also becomes a piercer with Enraged on the field.
Chiron the Mage ;
Since this is also a piercer when Enraged is out, and also
has a nice Sakurtsu - Proof effect, this cards is almost
staple. This deck will have a few occasional dead spells
unfortunately, but this card will make the best possible use
for them being one of the best Recycling Advantage cards in
the game.
Spear Dragon :
Everyone’s favourite piercer, Spear dragon is great, hitting
the opponent hard an fast, then switching to defense to
prepare you for opposing assaults. The deck needs some
pierces that can stand alone successfully.
Breaker the Magical Warrior ;
As previously stated, this deck fears s/t’s, being very
aggressive. Breaker can deal with this.
Magician of Faith :
Spell retrieval is essential to virtually every deck in this
format.
Spirit Reaper
With every good attack, you must find an equally good
defense. Spirit Reaper provides, as well as adding to the
control factor.
Tsukuyomi :
This card could make this deck, ensuring that in essence
what ever monster you nail is gonna result in some hurt for
the opponent.
Monster wise, that is pretty much it, and the most obvious
flaws are the lack of attack power, and the fact that you’d
be left cowering if against any for of a Cyber Dragon. This
is where the spells come in.
Equip spell cards generally aren’t worth it, with the
obvious exceptions with Snatch Steal and Pre mature burial.
Fortunately this deck can deliver with at least 2 that are
worthwhile mentioning.
Big Bang Shot :
Besides the situational Heated Heart, this is the best
piercing granting card there is. Not only this though, it
grants the user a beautiful 400 attack bonus, which is at
least enough to counter Cyber Dragons.
Brain Control ;
Melfist and Airknight wont come cheap. They are level 5’s,
and therefore need a bit of help getting to the field.
That’s where this come Into it. Soul exchange wouldn’t cut
it here, as the battle phase it the most important phase of
this deck.
Wick Breaking Flamberge Baou ;
Whats worse than getting walked all over by a piercing
effect? By having you own effect negated too. That’s where
this comes in. The third major problem this deck faces is
the actual effects of the monsters that you are destroying.
This card takes care of this, as well as boosts the attack
power to be able to take care of Cyber Dragons.
Trap wise there are some very evil cards that merit a
mention :
Robbin Goblin ;
The focal point of this whole deck. Robbin goblin makes it
so that whenever you deal damage from battle to the opponent
, they much discard a card from their hand. Imagine the
possibilities hen this is combined with a piercer? That’s at
least a powerful Don Zaloog. But then imagine what that
would be like combined with the likes of Airknight or Mefist.
That’s either a double discard, or a discard and a draw.
THEN imagine what it would all be like with 2 of these on?
The brutal power of these cards are exploited as the massive
advantage engines they are, hitting the opponent for
potentially, at least with 3 Goblins on, 4 cards out of
their hand in one attack. If that’s not advantage I don’t
know what is. If you managed to pull that off, the game is
practically yours. That is the complete beauty of this deck.
Macro Cosmos :
Dark world is the 4th and final threat to this deck. Macro
Cosmos can not only deal with this, it can also negate a lot
of effects, much like Baou. can. I don’t think this card
would be the same without it.
Dust Tornado :
The main threat that I feel this deck fears is s/ts. Dust
tornado can nail them before they’ve even been used.
So here’s the deck in all its glory ;
Monsters
Airknight Parshath (x2)
Mefist the infernal General (x2)
Enraged Battle ox (x3)
Pitch black Warwolf
Chiron the Mage (x2)
Exarion Universe (x3)
Spear Dragon (x2)
Breaker the magical Warrior
Spirit Reaper (x3)
Tsukuyomi
Spells ;
Graceful Charity
Swords of revealing light
Premature burial
Snatch Steal
Brain Control (x3)
Wicked Breaking Flamberge Baou (x2)
Big Bang Shot (x2)
Smashing Ground
Traps ;
Robbin Goblin (x3)
Mirror Force
Torrential Tribute
Call of the Haunted
Dust Tornado(x2)
Side deck :
Magician of Faith (x2)
Smashing Ground (x2)
Macro Cosmos (x2)
Return From the Different Dimension (x2)
Rush Recklessly (x2)
Magical Thorn (x2)
Giant Trunade (x3)
Strengths :
-Lots of Piercers
-Powerful control
- Maximum Advantage potential
Weakness’s
- S/t removal
-Monster Removal
-High Attackers
Hopefully, at least the high attacker conflict can be
reconciled by the Brain control and the like, but who knows.
The balance of this deck will need some tweaking, but on the
whole I think this deck is very potent. With the right
duelist this deck could easily topple a lot of the opposing
strategies currently used, punish the over use of Spirit
Reaper, and practically negate Delolkci and the like. I’m
pleased with this.
If you have any thoughts or comments, you know the drill .
Toddyhole@aol.com, and please do reply guys. Its nice to
know that there’s people out there who actually read my
works.
Well that’s it from me, now back to the Mountainous GCSE
revision that I can look forward to for the next few weeks.
Joy.
Have a good one guys.
