Its my 4th
article this week already !!! That went quick huh?
Well , over the last couple of articles in
particular, I’ve been constantly rambling on about
how you are changed by the game into different
people. Yugioh is a game that can change you
sometimes for the bad, but other times for the
better, and it is how we are accepted when we first
begin that truly predetermine the outcome.
When Duelists first start out, they can be from any
background , as is the way Yugioh attracts its
audiences. Anyone could play this game and find it
entertaining and interesting, as well as getting
caught up in the excitement that playing provides.
Geeks, Athletes, kids, Adults, women, men, everyone
is powerless to resist Yugioh’s charm.
With that in mind, lets reflect on how these newbie
will change over the next few months of competitive
dueling.
Naturally, as time progresses, all the duelists will
become more confident in how they play, and with the
people they play with, but it’s the roads these
duelists take that will determine their outcome in
how they will be changed as people.
If a duelist experiences the harsh reality Yugioh
players often lay down upon the new players about
the intricate chaining rules and why certain effects
mss their timing , and that running the Blue Eyes is
n00bish, then almost undoubtedly they will fall down
the CC route, using only the cards their piers
declare as decent , and having no creative motives
of their own whatsoever. This route may lead to
success in the future, so we can’t deny that its not
a wrong path to take, but the problem is these
players develop into the very creatures ( which I
thought as an awesome word to use at this instance,
no offence intended) which bullied them in the first
place.
Either that or become small time, insecure wannabe’s
who can’t scrape a win because of their tremendous
lack of confidence in themselves.
I see this as a bad way to learn , as it turns the
players into arrogant, vane people in everyday life.
The ‘rub it in your face ‘ type.
The exception to this rule is the people that try to
prove their taunters wrong by building an original
deck. Unfortunately, these tactics rarely work and
often lead to players leaving the game very
bitterly, after being unable to fight back.
If a dueling newbie I welcomed and taught by a pier,
then their play style will definitely vary than the
above mentioned. These players may indeed have the
CC decks that dominate the meta, but their minds
will be a lot more open than the previous duelists.
They will have witnessed effective combo’s and
learned from them, but their minds will not be as
closed as the others, as they have had helpful
guidance instead of having strategy beaten into
them.
These are, within my experience , the most common
duelists, as people don’t tend to throw themselves
into a game by themselves head first, they tend to
be introduced by a friend.
These players tend to be content, confident people
outside of dueling, and are better people for it.
They use the game as a hobby, and an outlet for
their boredom. They are not opposed to trying
something new, and they play what they want to
within limits.
The final type of player is the one who, with their
friends, learn and develop in this game, bouncing
ideas off of each other , and looking through
currently used strategies to see what works and what
they think would suit them.
This type of player oozes originality, and will not
be afraid to try anything out , be it for fun , or a
powerful idea.
Out of the game, these players develop great
confidence and security, and are not afraid to try
new things out. These are the players that define a
generation , and become infamous with their
creativity. These are the players people aspire to
be like, and there is only one road to get you
there. Play your friends, and practise. Don’t
mindlessly follow, develop your own principles and
follow your heat.
Another short article in the Duel Dome guys, but I
hope you liked it. As always ~ toddyhole@aol.com for
your replies. Have a good one |
