Dark Maltos's Dueling Dome
Legacy of the White Dragon

March 6, 2006

Welcome back to the dueling dome. My last deck received mixed results to say the least. Still, I liked it , and along the way I was told to try and use the Toon table of contents / Toon Gemini elf routine , which im sure in the future will add to the strength of the deck. Thanks for that guys. Remember, if there is a strategy that my deck does not embrace, I want to hear about it.

Also, as a side note , it has come to my attention that people have been taking my decks literally card for card in hopes of obtaining success. These decks are a blueprint, and require tweaking to suit individual players. With that in mind, lets move on.

The blue eyes deck (as this title so well conceals) is much like the Uria deck in my opinion, where the entire deck must be re designed before it can be considered useful. As a result, bad top decks will almost undoubtedly increase, but with a bit of luck it will all pay off.

The main focus of any blue eyes deck is to basically have a blue eyes on the field at all times, and for the more dedicated amongst us, to summon the Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon. To push this EVEN further the Blue eyes shinning dragon, but this is so far beyond the likes of even considerable competitive play, I shall not push to those boundaries in this article. As a breathe of fresh air, I am going to quickly run through what I think are all of the cards that can make the summoning of the above two monsters that much easier. The problem with a blue eyes deck, is that a lot of the time, either the blue eyes will be in your hand with no way of summoning him, or your hand will consist of a million ways of summoning him, with no blue eyes. The way I see it, the only way to guarantee the summoning of a blue eyes is to have as many ways of summoning him as quickly as possible jammed into one deck. However, in the interests of competitiveness this will not work.

Here is a list of the current cards that can be considered remotely competitive :

Paladin of White Dragon :

This is a superb monster, and undoubtedly the best way of summoning a blue eyes since it can reach both the hand and the deck while still being and awesome 1900 level 4 with the ever so fantastic Sasuke Samurai effect. Unfortunately, this guy is also a ritual card . This greatly hurts this monsters playability, and also requires multiples of

Manju of the 10 000 hands:

A level 4,light , ritual searcher. The best available to us today. Manju’s effectiveness lies in the fact that he himself can be used as the tribute cost of summoning the Paladin. Unfortunately, he only gets this effect when he is normal summoned, so he cannot be abused with the likes of Shining Angel.

Kaibaman :

The red eyes black chick of the blue eyes family . Basically allows for blue eyes to be summoned first turn with relative ease. Staple in this sought of deck.

Kaiser Sea horse :

This is a fairly effective level 4 who can serve as either a 1700 attack level 4 or tribute bait for the blue eyes. Much like Kaibaman, this monster makes blue eyes a one tribute monster, but unlike Kaibaman this only happens during your next turn, as the effect of Kaiser Sea horse doesn’t make blue eyes a Special summon. Relatively balanced stats, neither strong nor weak, but unfortunately make this monster unreachable.

Spell wise, there is far less of an abundance of cards that can benefit a Blue Eyes. Personally I find the lord of D, flute of summoning dragon combo to be rather stale now . I also find the ‘Bust Stream of destruction card to be equally situational and un worthwhile. However, there are some cards which could make the cut :

Brain Control ;

This is a good card in any deck, but basically makes the tribute cost for a blue eyes less of a burden. I would run this over soul exchange as the whole point of a blue eyes is to attack.

Fulfilment of the contract :

This is basically a premature burial for Paladin of white dragon specifically. Useful , but situational.

Dragon’s Mirror :

A great card for this deck. If you can pull it off is basically a free Blue eyes ultimate dragon, by basically removing the 3 blue eyes from the grave to summon him. Then you can RFTDD for the kill. Fantastic.

Trap wise, (beside Ultimate offering which is neither here nor there), there is only one card that I think specifically benefits this deck :

Soul Resurrection ;

Basically a Call of the haunted for blue eyes , putting him in defense. With the solid stats of the blue eyes, I think this should be staple.

Overall there are many cards that can ease the summoning of the legendary dragon. Of the above mentioned, I would like to use all , but in the interest of at least trying to be competitive, I regretfully have to lose Paladin of White Dragon in this instance as he requires and additional 10 cards himself for just being in, a sacrifice I cannot afford to make in Advanced play. I will , in this case, continue to use my Kaiser Sea Horse and Kaibaman cards.

I will use the majority of the cards above mentioned, but obviously, fulfilment of the contract has to be removed since its only target has been removed.

Since the Majority of these monster are light, im going to take a page out of a certain silent ascension deck and add a very versatile card - Freed the Brave Wanderer. This will also make RFTDD far less situational, as well as adding much needed removal , as well as making use of otherwise dead cards.

I will also run a copy of Mirage dragon as a perfect counter to the blue eye’s greatest fear - Trap cards. Its also a light dragon , so it suit’s the theme nicely.

Deck list :

Monsters : 20

Blue eyes ultimate dragon (x3) [why not?]
Blue Eyes White Dragon (x3)
Cyber Dragon (x2)
Kaibaman (x3)
Kaiser Sea Horse (x3)
Mirage dragon

Traps ;

Now obviously this deck isn’t perfect, and there are loads of ways it can be modified to suit a players desires , for instance is a pot of avarice could be a perfect choice, reusing the blue eyes cards over and over again. Or even cyber stein. It’s really your call, but this is not a bad deck to try out when used properly.

Well guys, I hope you liked it. It was definitely a more difficult deck to try and get right, but I think it paid off. I even incorporated some CC stuff into the deck which I think is and example of how these cards SHOULD be used. Cyber Dragons, in this instance , were the perfect choice.

Next time, you can look forward to a red eyes build, to complete this Yugi, Kaiba and Joey Trinity.

Have a good one guys,
