Dark Paladin's Yu-Gi-Oh! Dimension
The State of the Current Metagame
6.10.05
Hello again to Pojo and Yugioh fans one and all!
Today, I was doing some thinking about the metagame, and I
decided to share my thoughts with you. The Metagame of
Yugoih is constantly changing, especially with the release
of the last couple of sets, Dark Revelations 1, Flaming
Eternity, and most recently, The Lost Millenium.
Now, why would I include Dark Revelations 1? Because this
set is just a reprint of numerous other cards, most of the
cards are of lowered rarity making them easier to obtain.
For instance, Tribe Infecting Virus (MFC Super Rare, DR1
Rare).
Then, we have Flaming Eternity. Now, everyone complains
about decktypes becoming too powerful. Fire for instance,
and then FET brings us the Sacred Phoenix. A 2400 two
tribute powerhouse with a Vampire Lord recursion effect plus
a Heavy Storm essentially built in. Oh yea, and he's Fire.
The Lost Millenium also helped the Cookie Cutter Warrior
Chaos decks too with such little cards as DD Survivor.
People complain about DD Warrior Lady and DD Assailant
running over everything. While DD Survivor IS a solution, he
also adds to the problem. Having DD in his name almost
implies Warrior, which gives him a place in the CCWC deck as
is. Not only that, he is DARK, and Dark Warrior types are
few and far apart. Plus, having 1800 attack points makes him
a near beatstick.
The Lost Millenium also gave us more unneeded support for an
over-loaded Zombie Arsenal with King of the Skull Servants.
This guy can become a 5000 Level 1 attacker who sneaks under
Gravity Bind. How sick is that? What I want to know is,
where is some support for decktypes that aren't so popular?
How come the decktypes that don't NEED support are
constantly getting it?
Also, with the release of the new Structure Decks, Ocean
Lord Neo was released to further help Water and A Legendary
Ocean decks. The Fire deck is kind of a fluke, but they got
a new powerful monster as well.
Am I the only one who thinks it would be cool to see some
needed and much awaited support for Spellcasters or just
something else that isn't Tier 1 at the time? I realize by
doing so for other neglected decktypes could make everyone
"rush" to it because people play what wins, but there has to
be an end to all this Chaos/Warrior/Zombie jazz somewhere,
doesn't there?
I hope you found this informative, and remember this is just
MY opinion.

Until next time, you stay classy, Planet Earth :)
