Solutions to certain problems in the metagame
8.22.05
Hello again to Pojo and Yugioh fans one and all!
I come back today with a follow up to my Problems in the
Metagame article. For quite a while now, I've been trying to
come up with a deck that will rival Chaos.
Needless to say, I'm not very successful. However, I've also
been constructing something else. A little something I'd
like to call the Anti-Chaos deck. I'll be showing you the
rough draft of the deck I've been constructing in a little
bit, so school is back!
"School is back in session, and you're in luck 'cause
Professor Wheeler's in the house!"
>From the Darkness Returns--Part 3 aka Joey vs. Marik
Seriously though...the main point of the Anti-Chaos deck is,
obviously, to prevent Black Luster Soldier--Envoy of the
Beginning from being summoned. This deck focuses on
constantly removing your opponent's monsters from play.
Monsters
Tribute x3
Dark Magician of Chaos
Lesser Fiend
Airknight Parshath
Dark Magician of Chaos is the focal monster of the deck. He
removes from play ever monster that he destroys, a
definately plus. Lesser Fiend also has the same effect, but
is considerably weaker at 2100 attack. However, Lesser Fiend
is searchable by Sangan. Airknight is here only for added
trample and draw power, and may be dropped in the end, we'll
see.
Non-Tribute monsters x13
DD Crazy Beast x3
DD Warrior Lady
DD Assailant x3
Magician of Faith
Breaker the Magical Warrior
Sangan
Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer x3
That gives the deck 16 monsters and now I'll explain the
choices.
DD Warrior Lady and DD Assailant should both be obvious
choices.
Sangan can search almost every monster in the deck. DD Crazy
Beast removes from play anything he destroys. Despite having
1400 attack, he can be a valuable asset. Kycoo also allows
you to remove up to two monsters each time he inflicts
damage, and NEITHER player can remove monsters in the
Graveyard while he's face up on the field. Breaker is to add
a little offense and Magician of Faith is also obvious.
Magic Cards x16
DD Designator x3
Premature Burial
Pot of Greed
Graceful Charity
Heavy Storm
Mystical Space Typhoon
Snatch Steal
Creature Swap x2
Swords of Revealing Light
Mystic Plasma Zone
Axe of Despair
A Feather of the Phoenix
Brain Control
DD Designator is here to constantly show you the opponent's
hand, and you could even remove the BLS before it is
summoned, and that's just a bonus. The rest of these are
either power up, resource replenishment, or stall including
Swords of Revealing Light.
Traps x8
Torrential Tribute
Ring of Destruction
Mirror Force
Ceasefire
Call of the Haunted
Bottomless Trap Hole x3
The traps are obviously self-explainatory. This deck is
still in the exploratory stages, but I will work out the
kinks. It works fairly well, and I have won a couple times.
I even stopped BLS with DD Designator once.
I hope you enjoyed this, and try it out and work on this
deck yourself it you want.
Some things to look forward to in the next week:
Several articles
The set review of Pharonic Guardian
and whatever else I feel like doing before school starts
School resumes for me here in Michigan on the 29th of this
month, but the articles will keep coming, at least one a
week.
*I will finish the set reviews.
Until next time, feel free to e-mail me about anything @

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)
