Dark Paladin's Yu-Gi-Oh! Dimension
From Beneath the Lake...
3.07.06
Hello again to Pojo and Yugioh fans one and all! Sorry for
the title of this article, you'll understand why that
horribly cheesy (possibly horror movie title) was chosen
shortly. I've decided to take an in-depth look at the
monster D.3.S. Frog from Shadow of Infinity, which is a
Fusion of three Des Frogs.
Des Frog
Aqua/Effect
Water/Level 5
1900-0
When this card is Tribute Summoned successfully, you can
Special Summon "Des Frog"(s) from your hand or Deck up to
the same number of
"T.A.D.P.O.L.E."(s) in your Graveyard.
Also, we'll look at Treeborn Frog, as it can power-up the
Fusion.
Treeborn Frog
Water/Aqua/1/100/100
Effect: If this card is in your Graveyard during your
Standby Phase and there are no Spell or Trap Cards on your
side of the field, you can Special Summon this card to your
side of the field. This effect cannot be activated if there
is a face-up "Treeborn Frog" on your side of the field.
Finally, we'll look at the Fusion itself.
D.3.S. Frog
Fusion Water/Aqua/8/2500/2000
"Des Frog" + "Des Frog" + "Des Frog"
Effect: A Fusion Summon of this card can only be conducted
with the above Fusion Material Monsters. Increase the ATK of
this card by 500 points for each "Treeborn Frog" in your
Graveyard.
For anyone who has tried to make a Frog/Tadpole deck,
whether it be for casual or tournament play, I believe you
may get a nice new weapon and edge here for your deck from
D.3.S. Frog.
Now granted, this is a Fusion of three (yes three) Tribute
monsters.
I'm not going to lie, that isn't a good thing at all.
However, things like Fusion Gate can help you summon this
monster without actually requiring the pieces on the field.
Now, let's take a look. You're giving up three resources
(the three Des Frogs) for a 2500 attack Level 8 Fusion
monster. That was worth three of your cards, wasn't it?
Well, this Aqua friend gains 500 attack points for every
Treeborn Frog in your Graveyard.
So, if you manage to get three Treeborn Frogs in your
Graveyard (which isn't hard) since they only have 100 attack
and 100 defense, you've given up three cards for a Level 8
Fusion who now has 4000 attack points. If that weren't
enough, if you were playing A Legendary Ocean also, then
he's up to 4200 attack.
Furthermore, if you wanted to throw in a couple copies of
Dimension Fusion (assuming you had your four other monster
slots open) you could summon two more D.3.S. Frogs giving
you a total of 3 Level 8 Fusions who all have 4000 (or 4200)
attack to punish your opponent for a potential 12000(!)
damage or more.
As I've been talking about in my past couple of articles,
this is a great monster to try building a deck around. Or,
as I've been stating, a great weapon for those of you who
all ready play the necessary deck.
Go ahead and try it out. Build this deck and take it to your
next SJC or Local Card Tournament and see how you fare.
Until next time, you may feel free to contact me with
anything @ tsearcy@lssu.edu
You stay classy, Planet Earth :)
