4.28.06

Hello again to Pojo and Yugioh fans one and all! I return today to talk about some Japanese cards that I'm sure most of us would like to see in our game.

First we'll look at Marshmallon, a card I've talked about before. For those who may not be aware:

Marshmallon
300 attack
500 defense
Light/Fairy
Level 3

Effect: This card is not destroyed as a result of battle (damage calculation is applied normally). When this card is attacked while in face down defense posistion, the controller of the card who attacked this card takes 1000 points of direct damage.

Marshmallon is used in the Memory Arc by little Yugi in his duel against Bakura and in his duel against the Pharoh at the end of the arc.

Secondly, we'l look at a Magic card, Fiend's Sactuary.

Fiend's Sanctuary
Normal Magic

This card creates one "Metal Fiend Token." (Dark/Fiend/Level 1 0 atk/0
def) Any damage that would be taken by this card is dealt to your opponent.

We've seen this card used twice on the anime. Yugi used it in his duel against Marik and Chaz used in when Dueling the Dark Scorpions. This is a very interesting card. Obviously, it's a free summon so it helps summon Tribute Monsters more easily and then it also has the Reflect Bounder type effect.

Next, we'll look at another Magic card, Shrink.

Shrink
Quickplay Magic

Select one monster on the field. That monsters attack strength is halfed until the End Phase of the turn this card is activated.

Shrink is a Battle City anime staple of Kaiba's though we've also seen Rafael use it. It's a good magic card but keep something in mind. If you use it on a monster who has an equip or equips to it, it only halves the BASE attack strength, not the total.

Next, we'll look at another Magic card, Cathedral of Nobles.

Cathedral of Nobles
Normal Magic

The controller of this card can activate Trap cards in the turn they are set.

This is a fun card, esepecially for Trap Heavy decks. Although you of course need to wait for your opponent's turn to activate some Traps, it could definately help you. Also, it is the only way to summon Mystical Beast Serket.

Which is our next card...

Mystical Beast Serket
Level 6
Earth/Fiend
2500 atk. 2000 def.

This card removes from play each monster it destroys. This card gains 500 attack points each time it destroys a monster through battle. By sending this card and Cathedral of Nobles to the Graveyard, you may Special Summon one monster from your Fusion deck. This card is destroyed if Cathedral of Nobles is not on your field.

Here is a very interesting monster. Obviously, the major weakness of being destroy if CoN isn't on your field hurts, but a 2500 one tribute monster that gains 500 each time it destroys something plus the Dark Magician of Chaos removal effect is great.

Finally, we'll look at a trap card.

Divine Wind
Normal Trap

Negate the attack of one of your opponent's monsters and inflict damage to your opponent equal to double the attack of the attacking monster.

Wow...talk about Magic Cylnder on freaking steroids. One hell of a burn card.

That does it for today, and I hope you enjoyed it. Please, as usual, feel free to contact me with anything @ tsearcy@lssu.edu

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)
