The State of the Current Metagame Part XI--The Big Circle
04.02.07

Hello to Pojo and Yugioh fans one and all! I come before you today to continue my series of "The State of the Current Metagame" articles, and I will be discussing the current Tier 1 decks as well as a couple of other things.

Obviously, Gadgets are still a force to be reckoned with. Everyone thought Gadgets were going to save us from the dreaded Monarchs...and they were right. Or were they? Gadgets didn't really save us from anything. They were sort of a temporary answer that didn't really do anything about Monarchs. They just became another highly playable and competitive decktype.

Of course, the next deck is Monarchs. Monarchs are still good, perhaps better than ever. Monarchs and Monarch control are still extremely easy to play and very annoying to play against. People are all ready continuing their work on the Monarch-Gadget hybrid, they aren't going anywhere.

Now, Demise and Demise OTK decks have taken the scene also. I told you when I gave my spoiler for Shadow of Infinity that this would be a deck to watch out for. I'm surprised this took so long to take hold. "Hmm, a CED like effect, and I get to keep a 2400 attack monster on an open field? Wait, pass, it's a Ritual." It's a strong solid deck.

Also, Diamon Dude Turbo has hit the scene, and Konami tried to reduce this with the last Ban List, but it still a very viable and dangerous decktype. Diamond Dude still has so much potential it is absolutely sick, I give congrats to those who did this deck and got it to work.

Which brings me to the point. If these decks are giving you trouble, try to build something to counter these decks. Do you think someone just got the idea that Diamon Dude would be able to support a deck?

Doubtful...that's how a good deck can be made.

Instead of using splashable and powerful cards, use a card you may like for whatever reason, and see what happens. Creativity and originality are still huge parts of Yugioh, and look what can happen!

End rant.

That does it for today, if you have any questions, or need to contact me, please feel free @ tsearcy@lssu.edu

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

~Dark Paladin~
