Dark Paladin's Yu-Gi-Oh! Dimension
Dark Armed Dragon--A Closer Look
February 11, 2008

Hello again to Pojo and Yugioh fans one and all! Again, as usual, I can't seem to write consistently, even to save my life. Anyway, we recently reviewed the card Dark Armed Dragon in Card of the Day this week, and I believe we need to carefully and closely look at everything about this card.

PTDN-EN019

Dark Armed Dragon

Level 7

2800 atk 1000 def

[Dragon/Effect]

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by having exactly 3 DARK monsters in your Graveyard.

You can remove from play 1 DARK monster from your Graveyard to destroy

1 card on the field.

All right, first, let's take a look at summoning requirements.

*Dark Armed Dragon can NOT be Normal Summoned or Set.

*Dark Armed Dragon can only be Special Summoned by having exactly 3 Dark Monsters in your Graveyard.

In this format, that I have named the "Divine Monarchy," Dark monsters aren't found in great abundance. Now, it is incredibly simple to get three Dark Monsters in your Graveyard. Whether you just set them up to be destroyed, use Foolish Burial, on any of a million cards that require you to discard from your Hand, or seomthing like Card Trooper that requires you to discard from your Deck.

Three monsters isn't a lot, and although it may seem to difficult to only have three monsters of a certain type, it isn't. Now, let's move on to what happense once you manage to summon Dark Armed Dragon to the Field.

Dark Armed Dragon has 2800 attack points, which is excellent. As you all are aware, the Monarchs, splendid as they are, only have 2400 attack points. Furthermore, you can remove a Dark monster you control from your Graveyard to destroy one card on the Field.

That's card advatage every turn, as long as you have the necessasry monster to remove. You can use this effect multiple times a turn, again assuming you meet the necessary requiremnt. Furthermore, it allows you to destroy ANY card, Monster, Magic, or Trap, and one your or your opponent controls.

Dark Armed Dragons is one of the most versatile and solid cards Yugioh has received in a long time (with the exception of Light and Darkness

Dragon.) Continually removing your monsters can set you up for some beautiful moves, namely a combo with Dimension Fusion and/or Return From the Different Dimension.

What are some monsters or other cards that work well with Dark Armed Dragon?

*Card Trooper

Although an Earth attribute monster, most people all ready use Card Trooper, and his own effect requiring you to dump cards from the top of your Deck to your Graveyard only helps you summon Dark Armed Dragon.

*Dark Magician of Chaos

Dark Magician of Chaos may be the best monster that you can remove to Special Summon Dark Armed Dragon. If you can pull the Dimension Fusion/Return From the Different Dimension combo later on, then you get another 2800 attack monster, and a Magic card from your Graveyard.

*Snipe Hunter

Similar to Card Trooper, Snipe Hunter requires a discard from your Hand to your Graveyard in order to use his ability. Just another way to speed up the dumping of Dark monsters.

*Destiny Hero Malicious

This guy requires that you remove himself from the Graveyard in order to summon another one. It can continue to fuel your Graveyard with more copies of himself, if desired.

*Necroface

This is a good card for you to use after you have summoned Dark Armed Dragon and if you're still waiting for your Dimension Fusion/Return From the Different Dimension. Replenish your resources by returning your removed cards back to your Deck. It can also help, it you remove some good monsters, if this card ends up removed itself.

Those are just a few cards that help make Dark Armed Dragon thrive.

Well, I believe I have covered this card pretty well, and I thank you for reading! That does it for today, and if you need to contact me, please feel free @ tsearcy@lssu.edu

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

~Dark Paladin~
