YuGiOh Compilation Judgment: Light of Destruction So I’m back once again on Pojo, and this time with another Light of Destruction article! This time, though, I’m not explaining the things that we can be looking forward to in the set, but I’m going to be talking about what I see in this new set after a good experience at the Sneak Preview event! First of all, I’ll explain what I felt about the set before arriving at the event. Before the Event On the way to the event, I had mixed feelings about the set and some slightly disturbing thoughts about it as well. I felt that the set would change the Meta greatly, despite what others said online in the forums and what the people around me said, but I was having some second thoughts about that. I was somewhat put to rest at the thought of this, though, because I knew that every set would make some kind of impact, even if it was extremely small. So, I stopped thinking about it for a while. Then, I started feeling that this set would only bring Lightlords attention, and nothing else, which I can say that many other people agreed with me at the time. However, I had some doubts with Lightlords, because I also felt that Gladiator Beasts would become competitive, and they only reached the top after such a long time after their release. These are only some of the thoughts that crossed my mind when traveling to the Sneak Preview, but these are the only ideas that my readers need to know in order to follow along through the rest of the article. During the Event At the Event, I must admit that I expected more people to play with their draft decks when the event began, because only 4 to 8 people were dueling with twenty-card non-sleeved decks. No one I came across pulled Judgment Dragon or Solar Exchange, which were the 2 cards that I was looking out for, and they were also a signal for me to come and watch the player construct a Lightlord deck. However, a good deal of players found the rest of the Lightlords in their packs, but no one seemed interested to construct a Lighlord deck. This disappointed me, since I saw potential in this new theme. A few moments later I ran into a friend of mine that was also having trouble constructing a Lighlord deck, simply because he didn’t have any method of getting the cards. Nobody seemed to have the necessary cards, and he couldn’t purchase any more packs because of UDE’s rules. Thus, he gave up after a lengthy period of time struggling. I also have to mention that none of the other themes like Arcana Force seemed to be dominant, and the Lightlords would have the highest chance of being competitive. After the Event Honestly, right now, I still have mixed feelings, but I still think that this new set has lots of potential, and it has yet to be widely released, so Light of Destruction could still be a set worth trying out and testing, in hope of a new shift in the Metagame. In conclusion, the Sneak Preview Event only permitted me to catch a brief glimpse of the entirety of this new set, and I can’t accurately predict the changes that the Metagame will go through with just this tiny quantity of information. Finally, my main thoughts concerning Light of Destruction are that: - This will be another expensive set. - Lightlords are the only monsters that people (including me) are paying attention to at the moment. - The new Jinzo, Batteryman, Frog, etc. support doesn’t seem to be able to jumpstart those themes to top tier play. - Arcana Force cards won’t be seen in competitive play. - The cards that I mentioned in my last Light of Destruction article are still worth noticing. - So many new tech opportunities are revealed to us with this set, and it’ll take a somewhat prolonged time to exploit all of these. This is my shorter article for now, and I’ll be leaving you guys at that. Currently, I’m still accepting Deck Fixes, but, with the release of Light of Destruction, I feel that you guys should dig deep into the newly available cards and mix the set’s strategies with your deck’s strategy. Remember, email all deck fixes according to the guidelines I provided in my Submittal Guidelines, and keep in mind you can send in feedback, article requests, and any questions as well. Have fun and Play Fair! Ed
