Rain Drops Keep Fallin' on My Head!-The
Water Bounce deck
July 25, 2007
About
Lil' Old ME
Hey all you
Pojo people! My name is GeneralZorpa, and I will
be writing some featured articles as well as
some COTD's for you. I am not new to the game,
having played since Metal Raiders was a brand
new set. I have top 8ed a Regional in San
Francisco, and have won my local tourney several
times. My favorite deck to play is Monarchs, but
I will likely change that once I get ahold of
the Cyberdark support in TAEV. I am not
currently afiliated with any team, but that
could change quickly. Without much further ado,
here's the article.
Rain Drops Keep Fallin' on My Head!-The
Water Bounce deck
Now normally I don't do the whole deck thing,
but this deck is one that I have loved for a
long time and when I saw someone was playing it
at my local, I had to bring up my version of it.
Thanks to Jeremy for giving me the inspiration!
Key
Cards
There will be six key cards for this deck, as
they help to make it very frustrating for your
opponent to get any monster at all onto the
field. They will be listed here along with an
explanation of why they are so frustrating for
someone to play against.
Abyss Soldier-Bounce is a very fun
mechanic, and this guy bounces for just a water
monster discard. Treeborn Frog anyone?
Gale Lizard-IMO Dekoichi's little cousin,
instead of a draw, he bounces a monster, and all
for just a little flip!
Nightmare Penguin-Love this guy to death.
200 ATK boost isn't a lot, but can help to end
games, and he bounces ANYTHING that your
opponent has on the field, and a high 1800 DEF
makes him a real nightmare for your opponent.
Salvage-Two water monsters with 1500 ATK
or less to your hand. Fuel for Abyss Soldier and
reuse of bounce monsters.
Levia Dragin Daedalus-Demise Wishes he
were this good. Higher ATK than our fiendish
friend and he's water to fuel Abyss Soldier in a
pinch.
A Legendry Ocean-The center piece of the
deck. Lowering of levels by 1 and an ATK boost.
It also is the fuel for Daedalus.
Decklist
Here is the decklist, which I will talk about in
the next section.
Monsters-21
3 Mobius the Frost Monarch
2 Cyber Dragon
2 Levia Dragon Daedalus
3 Nightmare Penguin
3 Gale Lizard
3 Abyss Soldier
2 Warrior of Atlantis
1 Snipe Hunter
1 Treeborn Frog
1 Sangan
Spells-13
3 Salvage
2 A Legendary Ocean
2 Brain Control
1 Reasoning
1 Pot of Avarice
1 Mystical SPace Typhoon
1 Premature Burial
1 Heavy Storm
1 Snatch Steal
Traps-6
2 Trap Dustshoot
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Mirror Force
1 Ring of Destruction
1 Call of the Haunted
This might seem to be a very all over the place
deck, and it is, but that is what makes it so
cool. Mobius is an iffy choice at this point, as
people are tending to shy away from non
chainable traps, but it works wonders against
Snatch Steal and can help to clear a path
through your opponent's defenses. Cyber Dragon
is good in almost any deck, and can turn a
desperate
situation into a winnable one. Levia-Dragon not
only has huge ATK but can also blow up the field
by tributing A Legendary Ocean. He is two
tributes, but you will be surprised at how often
you get him out.
Warrior of Atlantis is a good card in this deck
as he is NEVER a dead draw. He will either be a
tutor, 1900 Beatstick or 2100 Beatstick and
quite possibly a 2300 if Nightmare Penguin is
out as well.
Salvage is a beast in this deck, and will help
to mitigate the loss in card advantage from the
use of Abyss Soldier and Daedalus. Reasoning is
a hard choice in this deck, but your opponent
will never guess it right, and getting a Levia
Dragon from it is just smokin' good.
The Traps are pretty standard, even with the
Trap Dushoots. I almost fit another one and
Confiscation into the deck to help control the
hand better, but I ran out of room. Your
opponent will likely have more than four cards
in their hand as you keep on bouncing them, so
you will often get this card's effect.
Strategy
The strategy is pretty simple. Use bouncing
monsters and Levia-Dragon Daedalus to clear your
opponent's field and smack them to death with
boosted ATK monsters. AN ideal first turn play
is either Nightmare Penguin or Gale LIzard Face
down and Trap Dustshoot or another trap set.
This will set you up to play a bigger monster
next turn, like Mobius or Levia-Dragon. The deck
performs best in the late game when resources
are low for your opponent and their field is
scarce.
Make it
Your Own
This deck is very very customizable. You can
take out the Levia-Dragons, Gale Lizards or
anything else to add more bounce cards, like
Gravekeeper's Guard and Legendary Jujitsu
Master. These defensive cards not only spin,
they have high DEF, allowing them to survive
attacks by many monsters, like Dekoichi. Even
Gravekeeper's Spy is a good card to add.
The
Bottom Line
This deck is very good. There are many decks
that rely on certain cards being on the field
that go to the graveyard, like Cyber Phoenix,
Treeborn Frog and Destiny Hero Malicious, and
this deck removes them without allowing them to
get their effects off.

Yu-Gi-Oh!, duel or even give suggestions for
improving my articles. You can even yell at me
for running a water deck. I also will help with
deck building or even deck ideas. I just love
emails, so send em' in!
