Unintelligible Screaming

Yeah Zombies again. Those guys just won't stay in that coffin will they. With the arrival of Goblin Zombie (about 1 format too late) Zombie players are digging up those graves looking for Il Blud. However, I found that the solution to my Zombie-less woes were far more common. Very common. Enter the FIRST zombies, Dragon Zombie, Armed Zombie and Clown Zombie. Everybody say hello.

I was thinking of these guys when I was trying to find ways to abuse Recurring Nightmare because of the absolute failure of Rainbow Dark OTK. I rejected them in favor of cards like Giant Orc and End of Anubis, monsters with some muscle and decent effects to go along with them. Then I was thinking about Call of the Haunted. It just was officially banned come March, and I was thinking of a replacement. Birthright was immediately a card that came to mind, and again I thought of the normal zombies. I rejected the idea again due to their low ATK strength. Then I was flipping through my binder and saw Burden of the Mighty. Wow. Was there ever an underrated card. This midgetizes everything on your OPPONENT'S field ONLY.

Then it finally took a DS romp with Petit Dragon to put the rest of the deck together for the NEW format next month

*NOTE: This is a FUN deck, not necessarily competitive*

Well as a disclaimer, I would be able to say anything about how the deck does competitively. I literally thought of it about an hour ago. I can tell you how it is SUPPOSED to work though. Pretty much you Special Summon Zombies until your opponent simply can't kill them anymore. Despair is there for the theme as well as being a beast of an attacker AND defender. Zombie Master is not a normal, but he Special Summons Zombies as well as having 0 DEF for Recurring. Pyramid Turtle might look a little out of place, but he can Special Summon Armed Zombie AND Clown Zombie in order to get your combos rolling faster.

Symbols of Duty is a really good equip spell from Tactical Evolution. You sack a Normal Monster to Special Summon a monster from EITHER player's graveyard. Sound familiar? Bingo, Monster Reborn has the same game changing effect. Card of Safe Return is essential, I even tried to fit 3 copies of all the Spell cards at 2, but couldn't find room for them all. Burden makes your zombies more competitive as well as being extremely frustrating.

Then for traps it is pretty much standard, Birthright for Spell Speed 2 Special Summoning and the rest for destroying your opponent.

The keyword for this deck is aggression. You need to Attack, Attack, and Attack some more. Much of the time, you will even be using your opponent's monsters against them, thanks to Reborn and Symbols. Due to Burden, you should be able to run over anything other than tribute monsters, and even then you will just get them back with Recurring or another Special Summoning card. Then you Vortex and proceed.

I can see Defense position monsters being a pain for this deck, but there was simply no room to include Nobleman of Crossout or Shield Crush. The best you can do is to wait for Despair, or removal.

Customize Your Zombie Army

There wouldn't be an article of mine without cards that people could use to break this deck. This is just the basic form with what I think would work well. Practice and other people might prove otherwise, so I have included a list of great cards I was unable to fit into the deck.

Nobleman of Crossout
Shield Crush
Gravity Bind (all the normal zombies are level 3)
Level Limit Area B
Enchanted Dressing Room
Dark Factory of Mass Production
Il Blud
Ryu Kokki
Vampire Lord
Dust Tornado
Giant Trunade
Call of the Mummy
Enemy Controller
Smashing Ground

The Zombies will pretty much function as a Gadget deck, so I included much of the Gadget support crew. If you build this kind of deck, let me know so I can update everyone about it.

To get a hold of me, raptor1k@hotmail.com is where I'll be. Don't forget about the Card Contest in my Articles Section!

Thanks for Reading!
