Demise Deck
November 3, 2008

Todayʼs deck up for review is an amazing concept that I thought up some time ago. I am sure you all have heard or seen the new Demise deck right? Well for those who donʼt know, the deck got a boost with the new field spell Geartown. Popping it with Demise or even Magical Hats gave you the game most times. I saw flaws with the deck, so I decided to make it better with a little Lang flavor. My version is your basic Demise deck, except with a good amount of draw power and your win condition is Dark Calling. Letʼs take a look at the build shall we?

3|Soi|Demise, King of Armageddon
3|Dcr|Dark Master - Zorc
3|Sdd|Valkyrion The Magna Warrior
3|Ioc|Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands
2|Ysds|Archfiend Soldier
2|Dor|Beta The Magnet Warrior
1|Tp2|Morphing Jar
1|Mrl|Sonic Bird
1|Mrl|Senju of the Thousand Hands
3|Ptdn|Allure of Darkness
1|Ston|Advanced Ritual Art
3|Dcr|Contract With The Abyss
3|Sdrl|Trade-In
2|Dp07|Hand Destruction
1|Mrd|Heavy Storm
1|Mrl|Giant Trunade
3|Dp06|Dark Calling
1|Mrl|Megamorph
3|Pgd|Reckless Greed
3|Glas|Evil Hero Dark Gaia

So as I was saying, you will draw quite a bit with this build. You will sift through your deck and get your combo pieces rather quickly without many problems. My ritual choices are quite obvious. If you have played at all lately, you know that decks like Teleport Dark Armed and Lightsworn can create big Momentum on the board. My two big bangers take card of that. Demise will nuke the entire field. Most people donʼt like Dark Master Zorc, but he is brilliant. A 5 out of 6 chance that you will nuke a monster of your opponents is great and will be game changing.

So I will be sifting through the deck with Trade In, Hand Destruction, Morphing Jar, Advanced Ritual Art and Reckless Greed. This will set me up for my Otk. Dark Calling will give me an Evil Hero Dark Gaia at minimum attack of 3600. That alone is already better than what Geartown can produce. Dark Gaia can get as big as 6200. How could you not fall in love with that? If you can get your drawing going, and get double Reckless Greed, you will win this game, unless you play error.

Most people donʼt even think of the secondary effect of Evil Hero Dark Gaia. It is one of the sickest thing that I have seen. Since this deck creates the big beats that it does, your opponent will be on the defensive a lot of the times. Gaia just punishes your sets. When it declares an attack, it switches all defense position guys to attack mode. What is even better?  All flip effects do not activate at this time? What else could you really ask for?

With this build, even if you canʼt One Turn Kill, you can still beat your opponent. People arenʼt using a lot of answers to kill these big beaters. And if they do, they wonʼt have enough in their hand to finish you off in most cases. So I see no real downsides to this deck besides a few. One would be there being a deck like Teleport Dark Armed that will draw to their combos super fast, and you may not be able to recover at times. Another factor I found while testing would be that Crush Card Virus eats this deck alive sometimes. You can mount comebacks with your searchers for your Ritual Monster/Spell cards, so you have to hope to draw/have those while being Ccvʼd to stand a chance. Other than that, it has worked well for me. One thing I have had troubles with, is finding a proper Sideboard for this. There isnʼt too much that can stop this to be honest. You can use things like Royal Decree and Prohibition to stop things like Royal Oppressions and stuff like Phoenix Wing Wind Blast/Solemn Judgment. Other than that I canʼt really think of anything. Side Giant Trunade and Mystical Space Typhoon for match ups against Macro, Gladiator Beastʼs, and combo oriented decks. Rest of the space you can try out some fun ideas!

I suggest that you go and build this. This deck is sooo cheap to make and a load of fun! Obviously not everyone in the world can afford all of theses decks costing 500+ dollars, so I think I solved that problem with this deck! I hope that you all enjoyed my article, and if you have any suggestions or comments contact me on the boards @ Jeff_Lang :)
