my “Tears”
It appears from my last article that sarcasm can be a very misunderstood form of humour especially by the un-intelligent. So to all those who took me seriously and thought I actually did want Morphing Jar banned then I have 2 comments:
The general response of the majority was that the article was quite well received and for some was particularly humorous. For me is was downright hilarious reading all the serious responses to my article, with one of the most hilarious responses being Dark Maltos’ comments in his latest article, which leads me nicely into today’s piece of crap I am going to call an article.
Back when I was a serious newbie I used to avidly read the main page of Pojo. The quality of articles back then was better than average. I used to enjoy the writings of Jaelove, Pook, Ryoga and (dare I say it) Dark Paladin. Then along came Dark Maltos I was instantly a fan because he talked about the UK scene. However ever since the infamous “Tears” article I’ve pretty much found everything he has written since then sh*t.
NOTE: For the record DM was never pushed into endorsing my article responding to his ‘tears’ article. He had the option to pull it completely or suggest edits before submitting. If he wanted to he could have just pulled it and I would never have sent it to Pojo. He had the option and chose himself, freely, not to exercise that option.
The reason I wrote a response to Tears was down to the sheer negative nature of his article and his delusional attitude towards his position as a featured writer for this site. It came about during the conversations leading to me submitting my response was that the reason for Tears was that he felt that by announcing he would quit the game and quit writing that his “millions and millions” of fans would be so distraught that they would immediately try to rectify the wrongs of this game and begin to play innovative decks etc. This then culminated in Storm-Vortex, “The Forum of Innovation in Deck Building”. I visited it a few times it pretty much contained the same old sh*t as other forums. DM’s latest article seems to come to the same conclusion as Tears. The game is gonna die. This time though it is for the opposite reasons. Instead of boosters are crap, decks are all the same and the banlist is awful. We now have boosters are good, banlist is good and decks are different. However now we will all be too comfortable and contented with the game that we will lose interest, get bored and then the game will still die. It seems that with DM you just can’t win!
Now to those reading this and to Dark Maltos himself who may feel this is just another DM bashing article from Mofox, well you’re right it is and I’ll freely admit it. My last response to DM was somewhat toned down and I thought at the time it would be noble to talk about my respect for DM and add a disclaimer that I thought his intentions were good for the game. Now I don’t really care. DM may have felt that the last response article I wrote was honest then you are gonna love this one!
Its not often that the comments of others about my writing can bother me and believe me there have been a fair share of “Mofox Haters” out there. You develop a thicker skin as you write, but DM’s latest comments in his article touched a raw nerve and wound me up. I’m sick of his “game is gonna die” attitude. Non-truths about agreeing to my ‘tears response’ article being submitted aside, my main gripe was he took the opportunity to have a sly dig at me and my writing and then tried to ‘sugar coat’ it by claiming he liked my previous work (which I do not believe he did). I had the balls to say to DM “I do not agree with your points in Tears, here are my thoughts for you to see before the rest of the Pojo readers. Please comment however you would like”. Seeing a “I don’t know what is going on with Mofox’s latest piece, I wish he would go back to writing his old way because I liked it so much” was really irritating.
Bottom-line DM is that apart from a select few ‘hardcore’ Maltos fans Tears was not a success and if there is any ulterior motives for Fade then that will fall flat on its face also. There were only 2 people who, since Tears, that have radically changed this game and they were Mr UDE and Mr Konami. If this game is gonna get any better or any worse in the future it will be these 2 people and these alone that will change it. The best you can hope for as a featured writer is that your articles can entertain and inform. If I have to read another “the end of the game is nigh” article I think I will put my head through my computer monitor.
So I can sum up my thoughts of DM’s exit of this game as “don’t let door hit your arse on the way out” and to anyone else complaining about this TCG, claiming its dying etc then all of you can p*ss off as well and go play something else.
To those of you who love this game, faults and all (and this game does have some faults) then keep on duelling with whatever decks you want and in whatever manner you want. You keep enjoying it because that is what this game is about.
Maltos, if you wanna come out of retirement and write a rebuttal, then go for it. I don’t care. I think I’ve made it quite clear what I think about your attitude to this game and your recent articles. Insult me, write some clever well-worded response, rip me or my writing to pieces if you would like, I don’t care. If you do decide to do something I probably will read it for a laugh, but as far as I am concerned I have nothing further to say about you, your attitude to the game or your articles. I have aired my views in public so there is not much else to do apart from apologising to those readers hoping for something a bit more humorous. I’m sorry but things needed to be said and now that I have got it off my chest I can get around to thinking about writing something else of a lighter note.
To those who were wondering, in conclusion I found that I could not determine who was hotter Tea or Mai. But I did decide that a night in with Tea, Mai and Alexis would be very sexy and very dirty!!
