3.24.06 - Spell of Absorption note:
I apologize,

I got an e-mail from a fan explaining the proper use of spell absorption.  Thus in the Hamon deck, spell absorption is useless.  I was not aware of the rulings.  Also, if 2 convulsion of natures are on the field, the deck is still upside down

  Read on.....................

Hello,
This email is a response to the article that you wrote on Hamon. I have to admit that it is a pretty good deck. However, I think the utilization of Spell Absorption is incorrect. Of course, I could always be wrong, so I looked it up, double checked it... and then checked it again. I'm pretty sure that the ruling on yugioh-card.com states that Spell Absorption's effect takes place when a spell card is activated, as opposed to when the effect of a spell card is activated. Therefore, you can only gain lifepoints for activating Archfiend's Oath by placing it face up on the field while there is a face up Spell Absorption. In this case you would not gain life points when activating the effect of Archfiend's Oath, but just simply when you activate it (place it on the field).
To reinforce this ruling, there is another ruling on yugioh-card.com that states that an infinite loop can not exist. If Spell Absorption's effect activates when the 'effect' of a spell card activates, then that in itself could lead to an infinite loop whenever you have 2 or more Spell Absorptions on the field. To illustrate:
1. activate Spell Absorption(1)
2. activate SA(2)
3. effect of SA(1) activates in response to SA(2); you gain 500lp
4. effect of SA(2) activates in response to SA(1); you gain 500lp
5. effect of SA(1) activates in response to SA(2); you gain 500lp
6. effect of SA(2) activates in response to SA(1); you gain 500lp
7. etc. etc. etc. until infinite lifepoints are reached.

If you throw Archfiend's Oath into the equation then you would simply place it before step one or two of that same sequence, then the rest continues as stated.
Oh how happy so many Fire Princess fans would be if the Spell Absorption activated in response to the effect of a spell card.

----------------

Why does nobody respect this card?  With such a name I believe all Yu-Gi-Oh players should at least have some chill upon seeing it.  A 4000/4000, in one hit he is going to take away over half of your LP.  And to boot he is a game-ender, people who dedicate this many resources to the field, are the ones in control.

A four card investment is a lot, but once again, that means you are winning most likely.  Or about to take the win.  This card is unusable if you are losing.  So it is the perfect way to seal your opponents fate.

Created by G102Y5568, his deck is a combination of an idea sent to me earlier by Fabian Kenzeler which basically uses the power of; Convulsion of Nature to flip the deck upside down and Archfiend's Oath to allow you to draw cards by simply "guessing" your next draw.  But this deck goes even further and uses an additional spell card, Recycle.  Basically by using various methods to obtain graceful charity he tries his best to deck out.  By doing this he can use recycle to give him any spell card he wants.  Just by looking at this deck I know a lot of you will say it is unplayable, unlikely to occur, and down right dumb in some manner.  But I played against this deck.  He maintained field and hand advantage (sense almost 8 turns consisted of him drawing some amount of extra cards).  He even brought Hamon to the field 2 times.  The first time it died to smashing ground.  He just used pot of avarice, (which when he develops the loop becomes the biggest pain you can imagine.) to shuffle it in the deck.  Plus he is running 3 and almost every spell card in his deck is a continuous spell.  The only reason I beat him in the duel was my Gravity-Bind.

As some of you know from online duels, I have been running a deck utilizing G-Bind, Level Limit Area-B, and my favorite dark bird STEALTH BIRD in a reliable manner, (my deck may appear cookie cutter but there is a lot of tech; thus it throws off my opponents and forces them to play my game:P).  This functioning as a means to punish players for playing too slowly or as a way to stall for some time in case my hands don't work out.  If I was not running a G-Bind, Hamon would of dealt over 4000 damage to me, simply by sending my attack position magical merchant to the grave.  That would have suck.  Nonetheless, I am crediting the loss of this deck to luck.  My win reflected no form of skill or insight, I was just lucky enough to draw G-Bind and hold off a heavy storm after some 20 draws.

Here is how its creator describes its function........................................................................

 1. Magical Mallet. Not only is it useful with the bad top-deck concept, but
also for the shuffling part, so it makes like a Card Shuffle.

2. Spell Absorption is used because of Archfiend's Oath, it's not
whenever I play a spell, it's when I activate one. So I'll be gaining 200
life points whenever I use Recycle or Card Shuffle, and not losing anything
when using Archfiend's Oath. Frankly, having to pay 1100 LP a turn really,
really blows.

However, in cases of which I'm dueling a
stall/burn deck, I will be including 3x Wave Motion Cannon, along with many
other continuous spell burns such as Ectoplasmer, for such a purpose.

I added in Magical Mallet, in place of one of my two Card Shuffles, for the
simple purpose of it working instantly, and shuffling my deck in the
process of a Recycle. A second Spell Absorption and Card Shuffle will be
added to my eventual side deck.

With 22 spells in my deck, Spell Absorption, which activates when a card is
activated, not played, (which is great for continuous spells with optional
effects) is crucial.

Lastly, I took Messenger of Peace and put one of the 2 in my side deck.
Frankly, most duelists use all monsters under 1500, such as Don Zaloog, or
use cards like Mobius the Frost Monarch, so Messenger of Peace is best under
1, possible 2.

From there, my Recyclable God Card deck was finished, and here is the
finishing result:

The Graceful Charity lock works like this,

Magician of Faith, run in 2s, and then 2 Apprentice Magicians, for Magician
of Faith Abuse. After that, there's Tsukuyomi and Book of Moon, which will
make for infinite Graceful Charities.

Of course, what's a deck without the non-staples? Recycle + Conversion of
Nature is a quick way to gain a Graceful use, and a second is to use Recycle
and a shuffler (Card Shuffle and Magical Mallet) and just wait for a
quick draw. Using 2 Archfiend's Oaths, if I do not have a Convulsion of
Nature on the field, I can just activate them and call Graceful Charity, and
whether or not that will be the top card of my deck, it will be thinned. A
useful tactic.

From here, my deck will expand.

Take a look at this deck, try it out.  I know you will have fun with it.  If anyone can think of a way to improve it, let me know.  I have a strong feeling that this deck can be much better than it appears it should be.

Let me see some more input concerning this deck.  And once again, it really does work.  (I still can not figure out how it is reliable, but I played against it.)
