YuGiOh
Wow, long time without
a rhyme.
I am sorry it has
taking me so long to respond but my only
rebuttal is simply to state, "Life Happens"
Without Internet connection, trying to get
transferred to another college, and the arduous
hassle of work; days add up. But then again
that is life. One day we are the dominant
species, running about, using resources at will,
then we refuse to adapt our ways to future needs
and go extinct. So many of us get trapped in
everyday experiences, refusing to bend to a
changing world and refusing to learn from new
logic that it hits us, we have hit rock
bottom in the proverbial essence of life all
because of production. Thus fear creeps and the
torment of realizing we made mistakes sets.
This is the mindset needed to master the rock
deck. At first such a concept seems unstable
and riddled with future defeat. But as our
civilization sets upon a floating mass of magma
and rock, the rock deck has the foundation for a
powerful and destructive build.
In the past 3 months a
revolution has swept through Yu-Gi-Oh. Players
have realized the true benefit of taking control
over an area of advantage not "usable". This
revolution has come in the presence of....
Return From the
Different Dimension. A minus one that generates
huge swing in advantage, thus paying for itself,
and winning games in an almost unstoppable rush
of destruction. Yet one of the problems
exhibited in the return decks is the multiple
bad hands and inability to function with grand
finesse, unless an opponent is running a similar
build. An archetype that has the ability to
truly harness this power is rock. As a matter
of fact, I dare say that Megarock Dragon is a
better return engine than chaos sorcerer and
bazoo, simply because it provides synergy with
almost all monsters in the deck. Now lets take
a look at a deck sent to me by a fan...
'Sup. the name
is Reggie. I, my friend, am running an
earth deck. After examining the new
structure deck, I realized I can use all
but two of the cards. So with some
careful ingenuity and a few left over
cards, I have for you...a
Sphinx/Flip/control deck. I'm
seeking your opinion. So here ya go.
MONSTER: 20
1 Guardian
Sphinx
1 Hieracospinx 1 Criosphinx 1 Grave Ohja 1 Tsukuyomi 3 Giant Rat 1 Great Spirit 1 Des Lacooda 2 Medusa Worm 3 Moai Interceptor Cannons 1 Golem Sentry 1 Guardian Statue 1 Gigantes 1 The Rock Spirit 1 Sangan
SPELL: 13
1 Brain
Control
1 Shifting Shadows 1 Magical Mallet 1 Restructer Revolution 1 Fissure 1 Bait Doll 1 Swords of Revealing Light 1 Mystical Space Typhoon 1 Heavy Storm 1 Nobleman of Crossout 1 Premature Burial 1 Giant Trunade 1 Snatch Steal TRAP: 8
1 Ordeal of a
Traveler
2 Compulsory Evacuation Device 1 A Feint Plan 3 Waboku 1 Call of the Haunted
Now this deck needs
serious renovation. First me must approach this
problem with an understanding of the draw backs
return faces. Return has an dire need to hit a
clear field, thus taking advantage of an
opponent who has refused to exploit the field or
who has met the furry of Guardian Sphinx.
A Feint Plan, Wobaku,
shifting shadows, magical mallet, etc. Will not
help the deck because being a build that plans
on using some form of battle to win, minus ones
that are not part of its win condition will
allow an opponent to take advantage of such a
position and fill the field with their
monsters. Honestly an opponent who discovers
you are running relatively no monster
destruction will gladly summon away and start to
nip your bad situation with spirit reapers and
such. Another problem this deck has is that its
win condition is not supported effectively. The
deck will dedicate a lot of time building its
presence only to lose it to Chaos Sorcerer and a
Nobleman of crossout. With this in mind I
present you with a rock deck that builds
momentum and keeps it.
Rock Bottom
Monster (20)
Spells(14)
1x Graceful Charity
1x Snatch Steal
2x Brain Control
1x Swords of Revealing
Light
1x Premature Burial
1x Level-Limit Area B
1x Smashing Ground
1x Nobleman of
Crossout
1x Book of Moon
2x Messenger of Peace
1x Heavy Storm
1x Giant Trunade
Traps (8)
2x Gravity Bind
1x Mirror Force
1x Torrential Tribute
2x Return From The
Different Dimension
2x Sakuretsu Armor
Now this is not an
aggressive build, hence the lack of Gigantes,
which is a very good monster in more beatdown
variants. I would recommend side-decking an
extra Nobleman and other such mainstream draws.
But this deck takes advantage of the metagame
simply because magic and trap removal is down
big time. Thus numerous stall cards will allow
us to get are return hit set up. In a more
aggressive variant I'd recommend the use of 3
returns and 3 Megarock Dragon's, but at present
it seeks to generate control through flip-draw
and flip-return. The best example of synergy
presented with these monsters, outside of
megarock and winning, is their use with return.
If you draw into return and happen to have
laccoda (zombie) and the like out of the game
(nobleman of crossout) you can flip a return to
bring them back into the game and then flip them
face-down. Thus the summoning of a megarock
dragon, by removing golem sentry and guardian
sphinx will generate into free summons of
ongoing defense.
Go ahead and meddle
with it. This deck has the potential to evolve
into numerous directions. But that is left up
to you.....................
