NOTE................................
My last article "Fallen God's", should have only
been running 40 cards. I accidentally added two
graceful charities (which would be killer in a
dark world deck). I also apologize for any and
all typo's I have made and will make in the
future.:P
Aggro Burn?
The fire spreads and trees burn. Cries of
despair and confusion bellow as those aware of
their demise question how they where placed in
this situation?
I recently attended the KY regional (placing a
disappointing 42 due to some multiple chaos
sorcerer swings, but my friend and fellow
teammate made 2nd place (beating out number one
in KY and number one in Ohio) so all was not
lost :P)
Live and Learn, Live and Learn
While attending the regional I was amazed to see
some very unique decks and some clever takes on
old archetypes. I witnessed Dark World, Cyber
End, Chaos, Macro, Batteryman/Chaos, Phoenix,
Zombie, Earth Control, mill, my friends winning
deck; exchange/mind crush control, etc.
But one deck in particular caught my attention.
The deck revolved around an aggressive burn
smack-down utilizing inferno reckless summon and
ignoring the old stall and draw method. I asked
the kid playing the deck some questions, but he
just blew me off. I was able to play one of his
teammates using the same deck, in which this
article is based.
The deck allows you to use
Marauding Captain to special
Summon Solar Flare Dragon
or Command Knight
. From here the deck either played
aggressively, winning in 2-3 turns, or locked
down the field allowing him to use
Solar Flare Dragon's effect
to burn for game. That is the gist of it. But
after the duel was done, I began thinking of
ways to improve upon the strategy. As we all
are aware Return from the D.D.
is this formats defining card. We all know that
Chaos Sorcerer
and his friends have been getting ridiculous
amounts of compliments for some time. But one
card in particular, almost built for return, has
been dismissed as a 10 cent junker. The card I
am building up to is none other than...
Da Da Ta Da
Infernal Flame Emperor
Yes, this monster gives you an opportunity to
remove 5 fire monsters in your graveyard to
destroy spell and trap cards on the field.
Honestly, imagine summoning him and hitting back
row protection. This in turn allowing massive
game ending swings in advantage to be generated
by Return From the D.D.
You can still call priority to remove any or all
of you opponents spell and trap cards, thus this
monsters only true draw back is his summoning
requirements which are easily compensated for
with inferno reckless summon.
Thus I present you with aggro
burn...
(42)
Monster (21)
3x UFOturtle
2x Cyber Phoenix
3x Command Knight
3x Marauding Captain
3x Solar Flare Dragon
3x Spirit Reaper
1x Sangan
1x Breaker the Magical Warrior
2x Infernal Flame Emperor
Spells (15)
1x Snatch Steal
1x Premature Burial
2x Reinforcements of the Army
1x Heavy Storm
1x Nobleman of Crossout
2x Creature Swap
2x My Body as a Shield
1x Graceful Charity
3x Infernal Reckless Summon
1x Wave-Motion Cannon
Trap (6)
1x Mirror Force
1x Torrential Tribute
1x Call of the Haunted
2x Return From the Different Dimension
1x Royal Decree
This deck could be customized as you wish, for
example you may want to try out more Wave
Motion Cannon's or other
interesting tech like Solemn Judgement or Ojama
Trio (thus hurting players for summoning Cyber
Dragon and Spirit Reaper on their first turn or
activating a scapegoat prematurely, thus locking
them in a situation without tributes while you
burn away). But this deck is packing nice
monsters in case an opponent attempts to use
creature swap to break away. It is also running
multiple monsters search-able with inferno
reckless summon. Almost every monster in the
deck forms an attack lock. Command Knights with
its comrades or Spirit Reaper. Solar Flare
Dragon with Solar Flare Dragon. Marauding With
Marauding, etc.
The deck is using Cyber Phoenix due to its
search-ability by UFOturtle and its protect
mechanism which provides for itself and UFO. It
is also a great monster to creature swap to an
opponent in order to gain a free draw.
Return not only has utility with the Flame
Emperor but every one is running Chaos
Sorcerer. Thus monster locks will be broken due
to his interactions. My Body as a Shield is
used to help stop threats like torrential,
mirror force, zarborg, etc. that might break our
field locks and Royal Decree should be chained
to game ending cards like return or TT.
By running 2x Reinforcements and 3x Marauding
Captain along with Graceful Charity and Multiple
self replacing monsters, getting the set up
should be easy. You can also pull sweet
maneuvers involving spirit reaper and command
knight. An opponent attacks and you flip call
of the haunted. After that laugh and say, "HURT
ME BAD!"
This deck can be successful and deserves some
attention. Yet only through trial and error can
it get better.
Go ahead and give it a try, cause the looks of
utter confusion by an astonished opponent is
more than enough to drop a Marauding and Solar
Flare Dragon and then flipping over an Infernal
Reckless Summon (which will only hurt an
ignorant opponent for summoning multiple spirit
reapers or battle searchers :P).
Following this article I plan on posting
comments made by fans about their attempts on
improving one of my other decks. I also am
planning on an article covering a mill deck,
focusing on its creators attempts at
constructing and evolving it to the various
formats.
As for my Cyber Stein/Self Destruct Button "no
win condition" Deck, I think I will leave you
all guessing until I can fully utilize its
annoying fun :P
If you have any questions or comments...
