Booster Shot of Death
March 1, 2007

65 million years ago and asteroid some five to six miles wide came hurdling down to Earth.  Impact produces tidal waves 1 mile high, somewhere between a thousand-million megatons of energy was released, and a crater 10-20 miles wide was formed.  With it came mass extinction, a new world, and the beginning of an other's reign.

We've just experienced this very episode in our beloved game, UDE has officially announced a new ban list and with that came the extinction of cards so many loved and the release of those who for years have been restricted.  Overall the new list offers us hope, stirs up our comfort zone a little bit, and demands some serious questioning.  I will proudly admit that I am happy to see Snatch Steal back, on my list of favorite cards it is definitely in the top 3.  I can not begin to count all the games won due to it and as such hope to win many more.  The major difference in this format is that Monarchs are being abused thus soul exchange, Mobius, Mobius, Mobius, etc. will more than likely bring an end to snatch.  Not to mention the banning of faith (I assume face down play will begin to drop outside of G-Spy and the Apprentice engines running Phoenix) means that snatch steal will have one shot on the board.  If a player runs something like Feather of the Phoenix to bring it back then they really want that card:)  This means that more skill will be needed to use such spells and as such people will hesitate upon using such power cards.  The banning of breaker means first turns will be filled with more set Sakuretsu Armor/Widespread Ruin.  This is going to be done to hopefully stop the Don Zaloog swarm that will more than likely begin to pop up.  I believe that the removal of Graceful Charity was justified, but that in and of itself almost spells doom for any dark world deck.  Dark World was hard enough to play with graceful, its removal means the deck is going to lock down its draws with big bulky monsters, this meaning any aggressive deck will run over such a set up.  The new dark world support may give it a 5 minute re-birth, but I would bet that it won't impact the game too much due to the great amount of synergy seen when competing against another dark world deck, synergy for the opponent.  Dark World is always up their on things we want to see win, I believe this last round of Shonen Jumps has given us all it can do.

Triple Sacred Phoenix may appear broken at first, but I believe that overall it will not be played in such a fashion.  I'm not saying it is a bad idea (I personally want to do it!) but with 2x D.D. Assailant, D.D . Warrior Lady, D.D. Warrior, Shrink (hurry up big guy! Zombie time), Bottomless Trap Hole, etc. the phoenix player will have to be one of the most dangerous kinds of Yu-Gi-Oh players out there, a skilled one!  The average guy is not going to want to deal with such a deck and as such more people will choose not to run it.  If someone does take such a deck to the top 8, beating out Macro/Dimensional Fissure, our 1600 Light friend, and the already established removal engines (main/side) odds are that those who copy and paste will not know how to make their moves accordingly.  Thus the deck will just be a fad at best.

I accept all of the talk about what was restricted and why, but one thing multiple players have failed to acknowledge as game changing was the use of triple Injection Fairy Lily.  I believe the reason most people have ignored this card is because they are thinking about drawing and using each lily as its own entity.  In reality the power of such a set up is the likely hood of drawing into it faster (on top of its reachability).  Thus with this said I introduce you all to a variant of Lily control.

Now this deck can be easily modified for play style, Mind Control (that old video game promo that allows us to take an opponents monster and not attack/tribute with/to it) may see some play to clear the field.  Marauding Captain and Inferno Reckless Summon could easily be thrown in to make an OTK.  But the current set up allows for a player to play a game just like any other game.  The fix is that we are running 3x Brain Control and a full set of Injection Fairy Lily.  This means a direct attack from lily will end the game.  Think about this...

Cyber Dragon

Injection Fairy Lily

Brain Control/United We Stand/Mage Power/Nobleman of Crossout/Mind Control if chosen

Royal Decree/Heavy Storm

Almost any point in the game will spell doom to you opponent.  Not to mention we have Snatch Steal, other Brain Controls, etc. to help push that extra bit of damage.

This deck becomes even scarier when combined with an extra bit of burn (maybe some Des Koala).

The E-Hero Stratos is there to search out for E-Hero Wildheart (plus he is cool looking).  Wildheart grants us the ability to attach a bunch of equips and attack for free (odds are Enemy Controller/Book of Moon will not be our major worry).

I believe lily should have never come off the restricted list.  I advise you all not to listen to those of us who believe anyone who runs 3 lily is a moron.  If we could run 3 Delinquent Duo (without Dark World) we would.  The point of this comparison is that increasing the number of cards we have access too gives us more versatility in how we use each copy.  8000 LP may seem like a lot, but a direct attack from a lily and Cyber Dragon is worth 5500.  Throw in a United We Stand/Brain Control for a 1500 monster or more, maybe a snatch steal, maybe the 800 damage from premature burial, the 1000 damage from confiscation, the 1000+ damage from a Ring of Destruction, etc. the game will not be lasting too long.

The other cool part about how this deck is set up comes from the fact it takes advantage of slow, control orientated players.  Either we overwhelm them for a turn or use their own field presence against them.

I hope this deck has enlightened and inspired you all.  If anyone has any suggestions on improving it, wants to talk, or has a crazy deck idea I can be contacted at Tebezu@gmail.com

Fairy Lily can shine and I am Hell bent on getting her back on the restricted list, the only way that will happen is if players abuse her for every life point she is worth.
