YuGiOh
Evolution
teaches one thing and one thing only, those
who are best capable of dealing with the
given environmental turmoils will be the
species that drives its existence to the
future. But one question one may come to
when discussing the ideology and brilliance
that is evolution is the simple question of
WHY so many different
organisms exist. The answer of this simple
and downright controversial and probing
question has been the spark of many debate,
but one of the best ways to logic this is to
simply understand that multiple ways to
exist are ever present within one
environment/ecosystem. For example, the
book I am currently reading entitled The
Beak of the Finch explains current
computer modeling programs in relation with
evolutionary trends. If three different
types of seeds exist on an island then three
different finches (or anything capable of
utilizing the food source) will rise to the
occasion and cease opportunity. This means
that one species will evolve to be experts
at eating bigger seeds, another softer
seeds, and so fourth and so on. Our beloved
game follows these simple rules and as a
result we will always find those people who
try their best to make the perfect monarch
deck, the perfect burn deck, etc. As the
shonnen jumps have continued a massive
amount of diversity has developed within the
game and a ridiculous amount of options have
come fourth. Themes once though of as a
dreamers dream (Demise, Cyberdark, D-Heros,
etc.) have demonstrated potential. Despite
my ever growing opinion
about this game becoming more and
more a rich mans game (imagine what I could
do with XYZ had I any Card Troopers) all is
not lost. Cards once considered staples
like D.D. Warrior Lady and Nobleman of
Crossout have dropped to the sidelines.
With this ever present change occurring
right before our very eyes we must all
evaluate how we approach this game and
question the true tested mechanics we've
believed in for so long. It is time for us
to evolve!
When one
introduces a foreign species into an
environment that is not developed to deal
with that species turmoil happens. The
introduced organism lacks predators, lacks
competition, and as a result utilizes
resources more efficiently than its
competition thus disrupting the balance once
demonstrated. The more I think about the
growing tier one decks the more I realize a
weakness. Monarch Decks function as a
result of quick field presence and Brain
Control/Soul Exchange. DDT is totally
pointless once metamorphosis produces balter
(or any other counter from the side). This
making reasoning, monster gate, phoenix
blade, etc. useless. Demise can not
function without Advanced Ritual Art.
Trooper Return needs return from the D.D.
The more this format develops the more and
more I am drawn too Horus the Black Flame
Dragon due to his ability to shut down
spells and thus shut down options. This is
a deck type that for far too long has been
dormant. It is time for us to resurrect the
dragon and give it the breath of life needed
to show the world we will never conform.

This is
the time to play this deck. People are
forgetting D.D. Assailant and D.D. Warrior
Lady. Monarch decks out compete warrior
decks of any kind. Brain Control is finally
getting the attention it deserved upon
release and Shrink
has been given to the public in a cool and
thrifty form. Basically this deck offers
its player the ability to shut down both
spells and traps. Our monster line up
(complimented by Shrink and Rush Recklessly)
can easily compete on the monster front
while wielding the defensive power My Body
as a Shield grants one against surprise
threats. Shrink makes Horus pop up in level
ridiculously fast. To top it all off Future
Fusion allows us to dump useless Horus
members and any other dragon to the
graveyard to produce a 5000 behemoth of
death. This deck makes use of almost every
aspect of its development. The
graveyard provides a 5000 fusion, the
monsters shut down spells. Decree will need
a little bit of protection (especially when
playing against a mobius heavy monarch deck)
but point in hand this deck allows us to
take advantage of this metagame's growing
trends.
Yu-Gi-Oh
may become a rich mans game but the best way
to beat a rich guy is to take away
everything that makes him rich. Underneath
his 1000 dollar suit and Rolex watch is
nothing more than skin and bone. I refuse
to allow a few to dictate the means of many
and the only way this will ever work is if
we as a community make it a mission to prove
alternatives exist.
- I am
currently placing team applications on the
team site for review. I am also still
looking for people interested in trading:)
More importantly I am looking for people
with crazy deck ideas and interesting takes
on this new format. I hope all of my
readers look at today's deck and do
something with it. Build it and test it.
Improve upon it. The only way we can
succeed is if we work together.
