Card Review: Trap Dustshoot.
Every once in awhile I like to take a look at my common box and look for cards that could perform good(in decks or sides) and see how it will fit into the current format. I recently saw Trap Dustshoot in side-decks of SJC Seattle and got me to thinking, why not take a look at it and why it makes a good side-deck card or even perhaps a good main-deck card. Now, this card was first released in Pgd I believe, and than DB1 some sets afterwards. Many people looked over it because before the Banned list, we had Forceful Sentry, Confiscation, Delinquent Duo, to deplete your opponents hand as much as you could. But as they introduced the Banned List and formats grew, hand control cards like Forceful Sentry and Delinquent Duo got the boot from play(cept in Traditional of course). Now we're in a new format without Chaos around, and we have much more room in decks to try new cards. We still have Confiscation around, which is quite good and we still have Donny Z and Reaper which also aim for what Confiscations doing without any costs. But I guess now people want more than that, considering Confy is 1 and Reaper is 1. What can help in this situation? You guessed a Trap called Trap Dustshoot. The text of this card is as follows: Trap Dustshoot Trap Card You can activate this card only when your opponent has 4 or more cards in his/her hand. Look at your opponent’s hand, then select 1 Monster Card and return it to its owner’s Deck. The Deck is then shuffled. Now, I usually called this a lower-toned Forceful Sentry. Its not as quick as Forceful was, and it doesn't have the effect of choose any card as you can only select a monster card and return to deck, but it has almost same effect. Although your opponent has to have 4 or more cards in hand in order to use, this format is somewhat good for that. As we have Dekoichi's in 3, Skelengel in 3, and still have Graceful and other drawing techniques. So its not like its hard for the effect to get off. You could easily see a monster in their hand that you dont like, and put back into deck aka Cyber Dragon, Reaper, Faith, Zaborg, etc that could have swung advantage their way. Not only that but you can easily read what they have in their hands. Are you afraid of them Nobleman of X-Out your f/d monsters, take a look and you can plan your moves correctly so it wont happen. Learn to play accordingly from what you saw in their hand. This card can easily exploit if they're playing Stein, Chimeratech, etc at beginning of turn, if you get it 1st hand. As I stated above earlier on, its slower than Forceful, but that might be a upside. You could draw it, set this f/d and another card. You may want to use it later, but they could MST it, and you could always activate it and bounce back a worthy monster to their deck for a punishment coughSteincough. Although they can still get it later on in duel, you might have super advantage on them by then and it might not matter if they pull it again. A new format can bring new techniques, and older cards can become useful, I see this as being a good side-deck card and possibly a good main-deck card as people want their hand size to be close to six as possible, so they have tons of options. This can tell you exactly what they're thinking, what they might do, and soo much more. Try this out if you'd like, I know I have and it works great. If you find a common, that you might think would be good in this format, please dont be afraid to e-mail me at freezergeezer111@hotmail.com and I will review for you. Thanks for reading my article, and hope to here good replies (if any). Any hate-mail can also be directed to that e-mail too. Peace.
