Yugiman's Thoughts
Yugioh is a
addicting game, its a very competitive game too.
People like winning as it'll get them prizes,
and it'll earn them friends and money in the
long run too. In order for people to win though,
they need a good deck.
They need something that will lead them to the Top. Skill is part of it, you need skill to know how to play the cards and read what your opponent does. But you cant show off your skills unless you have a deck to practice it with. Not many people know what Im talking about, right? You think I probably just got drunk and felt like writing up something and made you read it. Your half right...im not drunk but I want you to read this. This article is all about Cookie-Cutter decks, and what makes a deck a cookie-cutter imo. Also it has a little about whining about it too. So bare with me. Now here's the definition of Cookie-Cutter. Cookie Cutter: Appearing to be mass-used; identical in appearance. Now Im a member of the Pojo Forums, and I usually sometimes go on there. I like to talk to my friends, posts decks, comment on stuff, etc. But I didnt plan on writing this until I came to a thread in the Deck Discussion (Yugioh) Forums. One person posted a deck with Hydrogeddons in them, and people started to rip at his deck telling him that its cookie-cutter, you have no originality, etc, etc. It was almost like they were whining and refused to offer any help whatsoever other than trashing this guy about his deck choice. Now, merely going of the definition above, I wondered? How can Hydrogeddons be cookie-cutter? Even with everything else in the deck (Zaborgs, Exiled, etc) something wasn't right. I already knew his 1 Stein was somewhat predictable but it didn't make it a full CC. 1-3 Hydrogeddon decks have Top8'ed past 3 SJC's and people are now proclaiming it to be CC? The deck hasn't been mass-used either. As we dont see many decks with Hydro's in them Top8ing SJC's or Regionals either. Its basically Ryan Spicers deck (no disrespect to you). This deck is running rampant and is the true cookie-cutter as it's being mass-used and everyone's deck that Top8's with it is identical to each others. Unless another stronger deck comes out and breaks the metagame, the Spicer deck is dubbed the true cookie-cutter of this format as of now. Just because someone runs a Hydro deck with 2 Zaborgs, 1 Mobius doesn't mean its Monarch Control. You have to have more than 3 monarchs to have Monarch Control. People label Monarch Control as CC, and I dont see how Hydro's with 2-3 Monarchs is cookie-cutter at all. Yes, Hydro's have Top8'd SJC's but until someone finds out how to use them correctly and breaks metagame with them and it becomes mass used, dont dub them Cookie-Cutter and trash people online for their decks. Even if someone posts a Spicer.netdeck or a Monarch Control dont come into threads, or tell person IRL that its cookie-cutter, and etc. Its obviously a cc, and people can see it, your stating the obvious. People have freedom of posting/making whatever deck they want, and shouldn't be ripped by people for doing so. It shows the person whom made the deck that you cant grow up and act according to your age. If your a adult, act it, if your a teenager act better as your growing up. In the end, all this article/paragraph/rant/whatever is about is the useless whining that people do about people using cookie-cutters. If you dont like the deck? Dont post on the thread and ignore it, or build something to counter it instead of whining. It makes yourself look like a whiner, and we dont like whiners in the world. I know Im gonna get hate-mail and maybe some support mail, and Im all ears for anyone, so please send feedback to freezergeezer111@hotmail.com. Thanks for reading
