Yugiman's Thoughts
The Ban list
has been put into place for quite some time now.
Every so often they un-ban some powerful cards,
and put some new ones on. But have you ever
wondered about what would happen if they took
one card off like 3 months into the 6 month
format? Just to test it out or something? Im
gonna talk about how it would affect the
metagame and if it deserves to be unbanned, etc.
Yugiman's Thoughts Bring Me Back: Butterfly Dagger - Elma. The first card I will take a look at is Butterfly Dagger - Elma. This card was first released in the Dark Crisis set. It also got released again in Dark Beginnings or something. People began to relize great combo's with this card, but never really took action to make a mainstream deck of it. Such combos would include the Exodia OTK deck. How was this possible you ask? Get Royal Magical Libarary onto the field, have Gearfriend the Iron Knight on the field, attach this onto Gearfried and draw your whole deck out within a turn. You could also have Magical Marrionette on the field, with Gearfried and keep attaching Butterly Dagger - Elma to Gearfried and make Marrionette like whatever attack you wanted. Hence why the ban this card on the banned list. Its never came of since. But what will happen if it came off right now, and we could use it again? Im sure OTK Exodia would probably become a viable option for many players with great protection to save them like Sakuretsu Armors, Widespreads, Rings, etc. I for one would use something like this if it ever happened. The only problem is that you have to get RML, Gearfried on the field, and with Exiled's at 2, and Zaborgs at 3 still that might be hard. Sure, Ultimate Offerings can help, but they also can use it, and its only 1 per deck too. If you could find the right build though it be viable. The Marrionette option might be somewhat a little better, but you would need to have a Storm, MST ready before hand and destroy their face-downs before doing, because they could stop you right in your own tracks or just Ring for a tie. It might be too slow too, in a fast-paced meta like it is today. People might be ready, and Monarchs might be ready too. I'd love to see this card get off the ban-list sometime, it opens up to a good decktype, and hopefully we'll see it off soon. Also, I know there are other combos that Butterfly can do, Im just doing the most noticable ones. For the next article, I will let you choose which Banned card you want me to review for current metagame. Which ever one has the most votes, will be reviewed.
