Rescue Cat
NO LONGER LIMITED – Allure of Darkness, Destiny Hero –

So…who else is surprised to see
Gladiator Beasts untouched?
First impression that appeared
on my mind is disappointment.
Honestly, it was not because the ban list left GB
unscathed. I
was disappointed to see the list practically unchanged from
V-Jump’s OCG list (yet again…).
Also, the fact that I traded for Dark Magician of
Chaos only to see it banned hurt.
Unfortunately, things happen.
Premature Burial most likely
surprised no one.
With Arms Hole/Rescue Cat abuse, Premature was…done.
Destiny Hero – Disk Commander abuse with Zombie World
in the future sealed the deal for him, and similarly, Dark
Magician of Chaos (I presume for the same reason) was also
banned.
Bringing back Mezuki, Dark Magician of Chaos, and Crow’ed
targets (Disk?) with Burial from the Different Dimension
would be as broken as getting back War Chariot with Equeste
(hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm……).
Besides Premature Burial,
Rescue Cat is the most GB-related card on the list.
It was a sided card for mirror match – Gladiator
Beast vs non-GB is as strong as ever with the addition of
Equeste and War Chariot.
Would there be an emergency ban?
Most likely not; Cyber-Stein and Dimension Fusion
enabled ridiculously consistent FTK/OTK.
Chariot and Equeste will allow insanely powerful
control.
Preventing that was the ban list’s purpose.
Of course, it is impossible
to create a field where all decks have an equal chance of
winning, to be only distinguished by luck and good plays.
Non-GB users will now be challenged to surmount free
Divine Wrath at Gladiator Beast’s disposal.
Possibly in threes (not likely, but…as space
permits).
Bringing out Gyzarus may be costly in a mirror match, and
Cold Wave poses and solves multiple problems at the same
time.
Going back to the ban list (and somewhat whining)m
forbidding Test Tiger will mar Gladiator Beast beyond
repair.
Would semi-limiting Test Tiger be critical enough to force
the abdication of current tier 1 throne?
Would semi-limiting Beatiari be?
I doubt either of them would ever happen.
One may only guess.
Taking away Premature Burial
leaves only Monster Reborn – one less way (albeit an
overpowered one with Arms Hole) to Special Summon only makes
Normal Summon per turn more valuable.
With Royal Decree now at 3, can Decree Gadgets come
back? I
certainly hope so.
Shutting down opposing Solemn Judgment, Mirror Force,
Torrential Tribute, and the infamous Crush Card Virus (which
fortunately never hit the list – it’s NOT BROKEN)
Limiting Reasoning demolished
“Sack Samurai” build, and while Reckless Greed and Upstart
Goblins are still available in 3’s, these two cards cannot
dig as deeply into the deck as Reasoning can.
It will be a while until more stable builds are
constructed with Hand of the Six Samurai.
Limiting Monster Gate, as well as limiting Reasoning,
outright eradicated Magical Explosion decks.
Kuraz the Light Monarch never saw the light,
unfortunately.
The fact that more OTKs are gone is good; leaving one theme
unscratched, giving it more supports and not touching TCG
exclusive (Allure DID come off the list, so…) are…arguable. Oh well, this is a pretty good ban list.
