DeathJester's Dojo
New Ideas and Innovations:
Giving new life to the “Off-Season”

by Bryan Camareno a.k.a. DeathJester
May 12, 2006

Welcome back everyone to DeathJester’s Dojo. I’m here this week to give you guys and update you on what’s going on in the Orlando area. We’ve got new tournaments scheduled with some hot prizes and bragging rights ripe for the taking. We all know how important that is to us Florida players! Next week I’ll be sure to have a good Strategy/Theory article ready for you guys to read.

The Best Player in Orlando Tournament

The “Best Player in…” Tour is making its next stop in Orlando, FL. I know it’s been awhile, but scheduling issues have made it impossible for Elmo and me to plan any tournaments for the last month or so. In any case, here are the tournament details:

Tournament Name: Best Player in Orlando Tournament

Tournament Organizer: Elmo Gonzales (Level 1 Tournament Organizer)

Head Judge: Bryan Camareno (Level 2 UDE Judge)

Entry Fee: $10

Tournament Start: 2:00 PM

Tournament Date: May 20th, 2006

Location: Gathering Place Games Orlando
Address:

953 East Semoran Boulevard (SR 436)
Casselberry, Florida 32707

Phone: (407) 830-4390

Prizes:

1st Place – Trophy/Plaque stating that you are the best player in Orlando, YuGiOh Regionals Playmat

Total Value: $90

2nd Place – 1 Box of Enemy of Justice

Total Value: $80

3rd Place – Half-Box of Enemy of Justice

Total Value: $40

Tournament Details:

The “Best Player in Orlando” Tournament is only to players that live in the Orlando area. We would also like to invite players and teams from Kissimmee, Melbourne, and Lakeland to compete at this event. Remember that this tournament is your chance to make your claim as the best player in the Orlando area. There will also be different types of Side-Events taking place as well; details will come in my next article.

***Note***

Gathering Place Games will be taking pre-registration for the tournament. The price is still the same ($10), but you can get it out of the way and will help us determine how much space will be needed. We will also take payment at-the-door the day of the event.

$200 YuGiOh Cash Tournament

Here are the tournament details:

Tournament Name: $250 YuGiOh Cash Tournament

Tournament Organizer: Jose Magic (Level 1 Tournament Organizer)

Entry Fee: $10

Tournament Start: 2:00 PM

Tournament Date: June 11th, 2006

Location: Gathering Place Games Orlando
Address:

953 East Semoran Boulevard (SR 436)
Casselberry, Florida 32707

Phone: (407) 830-4390

Prizes:

1st Place – $100

2nd Place – $75

3rd Place – $25

4th Place - $25

5th – 8th Place - $15

Top 8 prizes at this tournament are guaranteed to be at least $250 in total. Prize money will increase as more players register. This tournament is open to all YGO players in Florida. You can contact Gathering Place Games via the phone number listed above.

**Note**

After this YuGiOh cash tournament, Jose Magic is planning to turn this into what he calls a “GodFather Tournament” with prizes upwards to $500 for Top 8. As with all his cash tournaments, the prizes will increase in accordance to player attendance. $500 is what he guarantees.

Closing Thoughts

Make sure you don’t miss out on these two tournaments whether you live in the Orlando area or if you live all the way south near Fort Lauderdale. Elmo Gonzales, Jose Magic, and I are trying our best to make the “Off-Season” as hot as the regular season. With tournaments for cash, tournaments for bragging rights, and regional tournaments on a regular basis…what more could you ask for competitively in Florida? The Tournament Organizers here in Florida are about the players and the players here in Florida LOVE to compete.

If you’ve got something to prove, a reputation to build, or you just want to make some cash, make sure you stay up-to-date on my column “DeathJester’s Dojo” this season for the very latest in Florida tournament action. Come and show us what you got.

Until next time, remember to play hard, think about your moves, and most importantly…have fun!
