Hi all,



Welcome to another edition of the tournament report. I hope this writing finds you well and winning.



Yesterday, the Monarch's took 1st place. I would have repeated a first place victory today IF I had not made one FATAL error in the third match of the finals. It was a really silly mistake and one I normally wouldn't do, but circumstances being what they were, I let my big, fat ego get in the way of a smart play and lost because of it. A hard lessoned learned.



Anyhoo....here's the deck. I decided to take United We Stand out of my side deck because it's stupid. I'm going to put in a Smashing Ground. Otherwise, the side deck is fine and really came through for me numerous times today.

ROUND 1
MONARCHS VS ZOMBIE



Well, zombie decks give me fits. It seems not matter what I do, I lose to them. Even when I side deck all Magic Drains and King Tigers and Torrential, they are always too little too late. Oh well, I guess I can go home early today.



GAME 1
Yeah. Just as I thought. He gets a zillion zombies by Creature Swapping his Turtle for my Gorilla and just keeps pounding me. I draw nothing because the duel is over in three turns....sigh.



GAME 2
Side deck time! Royal Oppression, Tiger, Magic Drain, Torrential, everything.



I go first and get a Tiger and Royal Oppression in my first hand. That was enough to do it. Perfect. Soon, TIV came out to play as well. Domination.



GAME 3
I stay with my deck the way it is. Royal Oppression stop his special summoning again, and a perfectly timed Magic Drain shuts down the Lightning Vortex he took out of my hand with Exchange! LOL. Nice job Monarchs.



ROUND 2
MONARCHS VS WATER



This is the BEST water deck I have ever played against or seen. It is very nicely built and pretty solid. I expect a set of good duels.



GAME 1
An opening hand Delinquent Duo thins his hand down right off the bat. He attacks my Nimble, allowing me to tribute for Zaborg next turn. He gets out both Abyss Solieder on consecutive turns but Zaborg takes care of one and a Goriila takeds care of the other. When he summons Levia Dragon, I Bottomless it and manage to win. ALO didn't even show up.



GAME 2
TER locks him up. Ring takes out his Levia Dragon. TER is killing him and when he's down to 2000LP, he special summons an Aqua Spirit to turn my TER into defense during my standby phase. It doesn't matter, because I tribute TER for Zaborg for game.



ROUND 3
I GET A BYE! HOORAY!



SEMI - FINALS
MONARCHS VS PHOENIX/CHAOS



Hmmmm. I dueled this deck three or four times before the tournament and had my share of losses. This should be good.



GAME 1
I get killed. His opening hand of Delinquent and a few turns later, Lightning Vortex wipes my field and Phoenix, BLS and Jinzo wipe me out. Not pretty.



GAME 2
Side deck time. He special summons a lot. MoF with Apprentice Magician, Hand of Nephthys + Scapegoat. The Phoenix itself. No special summons for him. Royal Oppression, Tigers and the second NoC to take out those darn Magician of Faith.



Crap. My first ten cards are Spell and Trap Cards. Somehow I manage to hang on. The Royal Oppression shuts him down and the Tigers do a good job. I manage to win, I still don't know how.



GAME 3
Once again, the Royal Oppressionand the Tigers shut him down completely. He Dust Tornados one Oppression, but I had another one set and activated it, so that was that! HA!



FINALS
MONARCHS VS CHAOS



Yeah, yeah. Tomato, Angel, BLS, DD, blah blah. Been there, beat that....yawn.



GAME 1
Total Monarch domination. Zaborg destroys monsters. Nobleman crosses out monsters. Mobius takes care of Spell and Trap. In three turns it's over.



GAME 2
Side deck. The usual. Oppression and Tigers.



Oops. Well, I didn't get beaten as bad as I beat him. I did not draw one Tiger or Oppression. All the Tigers were nestled close together at the bottom of my deck. Pooey.



GAME 3
Here's where I totally muff it.



On his opening hand, he's making all these jestures and "oohing" and "ahhing" about how good his hand is and starts showing it around and this ticks me off. That's a noob thing to do. Thinking you're all that and you got the game in the bag. I certainly hope I can shove that opening hand down his throat. I don't make a big deal out of his showing off because this has happened to me on more than one occasion.



Well, I get my wish. I am totally destroying him. The Tiger stops him from getting another monster when I whack his stupid Tomato.
I am winning and would definately torn him a new one until I make a big mistake. He has one set monster and one set card in his Spell and Trap zone. I have a Tiger and a Gorilla on the field. I have a Gorilla and Mobius in my hand. He has NO cards in his hand.
Instead of tributing the Gorilla for Mobius, which I would normally do, I wanted to kick this guys hind quarters for being a smart***. I summon the other Gorilla and attack. He had a freakin' MIRROR FORCE set! OH! Now, who's the idiot? Yes, it is me. I have nothing to summon and he flips up the DD Warrior Lady he had set and starts attacking me with her over and over again and I don't draw anything to help me. I'm at 1400 when he Rings her....ARGH!!!



Let this be a lesson to all you young duelists. NEVER let your ego or pride get in the way of making the SMART play.



Well, I come in second anyway! So that's good. I get nothing from my packs and leave all the cards on the table for any one who wants to take them.



I'm by myself this weekend, so don't bother to stop anywhere for food and just go home.



I'm going out of town this coming weekend, so there will be no tournament report then. Try to hold yourself together until then!!!
