 Yugioh Tournament Reports

Earth Deck - Neutral Ground - NYC - John P
BOX tournament - UDE required - About 16 people
December 4, 2005

Round 1 - I verse Kenneth (I think)
Duel 1
I set DUST TORNADO and a MOMOMGA face down, end turn.
He summons KYCOO and attacks. I get 2 more MOMOMGAS face down.
He sets a card and ends, I DUST in his end phase, destroy SAKURETSU.
I HAMMER SHOT KYCOO, flip the MOMONGAS, summon GIANT RAT and attack.
He broke out Cyber Dragon and summoned BREAKER. He broke my Sakuretsu
and attacked. From this point I don't remember much. I think destroyed his monsters
with Needle Ceiling. We went back and forth with medium hitters like DDA and DDWL
and my Elemental hero Wildheart which I comboed with Torrential. I remember the end
when he blasted me with Bazoo and Return From A DD. I lost.

I maindeck in a Royal Decree and hoped for the best.

Duel 2
This round went pretty much the same. We were both low on LP and I was
defending with a Messenger of Peace. I finally draw Heavy Storm and clear the
field with it and Hammer shot his Bazoo and Snatch his Reaper. I summon Berserk
Gorilla and end it. WIN.

Duel 3
I really don't remeber much from this round. He was down on LP and I had taken some hits but
my LP was still about midway and I was needing a good draw againt his attackers. He had destroyed
my Messengers, so I needed a game changer. I drew Cyber Jar, and set it with delight. He Crossed it
and did his Return from DD and that was it. LOST!

Duel Rating: 3/5 - Suspenseful but where was the friendliness.
My Brother won his first Round against a fiend deck I think. He runs a very competitive DM deck.

After talking to a person about Card prices and trading.

Round 2 - I verse Seven Year Old Kid
Duel 1
I think it was his third time there and I had seen him duel before with an Elemental Hero Deck.
This kid was much better than I thought and his deck was a little bit better than before.
It was great to see a young kid that knew the rules. Anyway, he throws out his Elemental Hero Avian
uses sky scraper sets a card and ends. I MST his skyscraper and attack with a giant rat. I set a Dust
and end. He summons WildHeart, attacks, I get out Medusa Worm. He sets, I dust Waboku, and he ends.
I destroy WildHeart and attack with Indomitable Fighter lei lei and the worm. I did not set anthing.
He sets a monster and ends. I destroy the set monster and attack with Worm, Obnoxious Celtic Guardian.
The duel was pretty much one sided with me controlling the field.

Duel 2
He summons Wildheart and equips Axe of Despair, Huge Monster. Normally that would have been a
bad opening move, but I hand nothing in my hand that could kill it. For several turns, I drew nothing
usuable, where were my Dusts? I defended with Giant rats and had to use Swords, but i did take a couple
of hits anyway.Finally I draw Dark Hole. With a clear field, I attack with Berserk. I was controlling the field again.
However, the guy i was talking to during the break asks if he can help the kid. I didn't mind. With the
guy's help, the kid came back. He used creature swap, then lightning Vortex to leave with nothing.
I take a hit, I set Morphing Jar #2, but get creature swapped again. He rolls over me again. He wins
taking exactly that amount of LP I had left. It was meant to be.

Duel 3
This duel went exactly like duel 1. I struck down his defenses with Mystic LV2 and hit with giant rats. He did
not have help this time, and my Hammer shots, exiled force, and Dusts came early on. WIN.

Duel Rating 3.5/5 - Nice friendly duel.
After, I gave him suggestions about deck fixes and waited for Round 3

Round 3 - I verse T.(I only remeber his initial).

Duel 1
This guy had beaten my brother in the previous round, so I was anxious to face him.
He starts by setting a monster and a card. I set Momomga and end. He sets another monster
card and ends. I summon rat and attack the first face down monster--Banisher of Light!
I set a Dust and end. He summons DD transporter(I forget the name, its the card that has
a red whale type creature that removes destroyed monsters from play). He attacks the my
Momonga, so I get nothing. My hand is not so good, so I defend by setting a Sakuretsu.
He uses bait doll spell card, so my trap card is forced to activate prematurally. He summons
DDA and attacks the rat, I get Medusa Worm, but he snatches and flips it face down. I dust his trap
card, summon Injection Fairy Lilly, pump and destroy the Bansisher, risky yes but i needed it gone.
I activate Messenger of Peace and set another dust. I stalled him for a while, using Neddle Ceiling and
Torrential to clear the field. After some hits back and forth, He used Soul Release on me then
used DD dynamite and Ojama tokened me. He finished me off by using another DD dynamite and a lightning
vortex to cause the Ojama tokens to burn me. LOST.

I maindeck in Royal Decree and 2 des wombats.

Duel 2
I was more in control of this duel. I got Royal Decree after he had used MST,
so that stalled us for a long while, while I kept chipping away with obnoxious
celtic guard, gigantes and clearing the sets with Mystic LV2. After he heavy stormed
the field, the D.D dymanite only hit me once thanks to the wombats. WIN with Injection
and Wildheart.

Duel 3
In this duel, Royal Decree was destroyed early by Breaker, so i did not have that safety net.
I hammer shot it and got a hit in with a powered up WildHeart (his gaia power). He exiled force
it I think. He got some hits in with a powered up DD transporter, I lost a couple of set cards to that
monster, but Morphing Jar saved me. I came back with a powered up giant rat (united we stand).
He bait dolled my traps away.He forced me to activated Call of the Haunted early, then used lightning
vortex. He hit me with 2 Soul Releases then D.D dynamite. He gave me the Ojama Tokens again and
activated Spatial Collapse. My field was locked, but luckily I drew MST so there went spacial collapse.
I dark holed the field, lost 900 LP. I was down to 1200 points and he had 4 or 500 points. I tried to
finish off with an attacking Momomga, but got Cylindered. I used Messenger and ended. He attacked
with a Mystic tomato I think and that was that. LOST!

Duel Rating 4.5/5 --Very suspenful and friendly back and forth commentary.
Very good match. I played against him later, after the tournamnet, He had 11 decks with him, but just
played against 4 of them - beat them all.

I was 1-2. Normally I would be 2-1 and once 3-0

Round 4 - I verse ear phone guy.
This duel was pretty normal, he had a tomato/reaper control type deck i think.
I definetly rmemember the Cyber Dragon. Always a surprise when that is springed on you.
I don't remeber much because it was rather boring to be honest. The guy had ear phones on
and was listening to music, at least he was calm and explained a question I had about a card.
I spaced out, with 2 losses I was already out of the running
for the box prize, so i just went through the motions. I lost this one in 3 duels.

Duel Rating: 2/5 - average at best.
--I don't know who won the prize, but overall it was good day.
