Tournament Report for July 2, 2005

Hi all,

Welcome to yet another week of tournament reports! I hope this writing finds you well and winning.

Interesting weekend of dueling this week. Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning was the determing factor in my losses this weekend. Let's just proceed to the tournaments and you'll see why I hate BLS and why it really deserves to be burned beyond recognition.

At first, you'd think the Light of Intervention and the Nobelman of Crossout would work at cross purposes with each other, but I discovered that most CCC players willl DESPERATELY try to get rid of the Light of Intervention, leaving you free to set the Nobelman as a bluff or simply hold it until your opponenet manages to get rid of the Light of Intervention and then laugh hysterically when you NoC their precious little Magician of Faith. Ahhh....Priceless.

Well, first pairings are called and I get to face a CCCCCCCCCCCC...ad infinitum....deck

ROUND 1
Monarchs vs CCC

GAME 1

I don't get that good of an opening hand. I set DDWL and a NoC.

He plays Graceful Charity, discarding Vampire Lord and Lightning Vortex. He sets one monster (I'm guessing it's Magician of Faith) and two S/T cards.

I NoC his face down and it's a Magician of Faith (yawn - how predictable). I manage to get rid of all three of them. I tribute the DDWL for Mobius and he Bottomless' it but at least I get rid of his Call of the Haunted, too. I Premature Burial the DDWL and attack for 1500LP.

He uses Brain Control on my DDWL and tributes for a face down monster. That sort of confused me and I was wondering what monster he would tribute face down for in a CCC deck? I summon an Enraged Battle Ox and trample his set Zaborg for 700LP.

He can't do anything. I attack him again with Enraged and a King Tiger. I am winning 8000LP to 2400LP. He has no hand and no field. He top decks BLS and I end up losing after I draw nothing to help me get rid of it within two turns. I get really mad.

GAME 2

This game the Light of Intervention is killing him. He has to summon his little MoF and Night Assailant in face up defense position.
I've taken care of his Kycoo with Mirror Force. I trample his MoF and Assailant with an OX and then attack with a Gorilla and an Ox.
Once again, I have field, LP and hand advantage and he flippin' top decks BLS AGAIN! I lose again. I get even madder and ask him if he enjoys winning by luckily drawing one card all the time.

ROUND 2
Monarchs VS Warrior Beatdown

This is a fun little deck. It doesn't use BLS, but it could find its way in there. Its a typical Warrior Beatdown build with Command Knight, Blade Knight, Marauding, Mataza, Don Zaloog etc., etc. I liked it. It reminded me of the one I had built a while back but, this one was a little better, I think.

GAME 1

I summon a Tiger and that stops him dead in his tracks right of the bat. He has nothing he can summon so he sets monsters. He tries to Snatch my Breaker but I get it back with a set MST. He does get rid of the Tiger and I tribute Breaker for Mobius and he chains his Scapegaot. Curses! If only the Tiger had lasted one more turn! He uses Hammershot on my Mobius and gets Don Zaloog with a RotA but sets a face down monster. I have no monster to summon on my turn and he flips his Cyber Jar, but I Bottomless all his big monsters and he's left with a Spirit Reaper which he doesn't set but leaves in attack position. Haha. Ceasefire whacks him for 1500LP damage and my Ox tramples his Reaper. He summons Marauding and when he drops a Command Knight with the Capn's effect, I Bottomless it. I summon Gorilla and trample his Reaper with it and the Ox for the win.

GAME 2

Cyber Jar gives him multiple Command Knights, Blade Knight and Marauding and a single A Forces totally dominate me. I'm looking for Tribe or Vortex to bail me out, but nothing happens. I get murdered.

GAME 3

I side deck out of the Light of Intevention and into the Nimbles, Injection, Sangan, and the Metamorphosis stuff. An early TER takes his set Spirit Reaper. I Snatch his Don and hit him with it and Injection in a direct attack and he can't recover.

ROUND 3

WHAT!?!?! I get dropped by the computer!!!!???? This is goofy. Oh well, it's all good. I won last week, so I guess my points were too high to warrant me moving on to the next round. Whatever.

We hung out more and dueled a little more until it was time to eat lunch and get ready for the second tournament of the day....

Well, to make a short story even shorter, I lost in the first round today. It was against a CCCCCCC deck. The match went to three games though. The first game was great. A lot of strategy and thinking on both our parts. I was winning 3700LP to 300LP. I had Kycoo and TIV onthe field and he draws stinking Lightning Vortex. He was going to win with a 2000 attack Blade Knight and I had to Premature Burial my own to suicide with it just to hang in there. So, after he attacked with the Blade Knight for 2000LP and after I Premature Burialed mine, it was 900 to 300. We were both top decking and all either one of use needed was a monster to kill the other off. Well, he top decked an Exiled Force and attacked for the win! Awww. Darn.

The second game was also very close. Injection hurt him and he Snatch'd her, but didn't want to attack and pay the 2000LP. I think he just didn't want ME to have her. I let him keep it a few turns and gained some LP with the Snatch Steal. A Rign of Destruction on his DD Assailant finished him off.

The last game was really close as well. That is until BLS came out. Then, I lost of course......

Well, that's it for this week. Next week, I don't know what I'm going to do. I think I am going to maybe, revise the Total Body Control deck. A lot of people really liked it and wondered where it was and why wasn't I using it. Well, I just might bring it back with a few more, well thought out revisions....
