Dagreenbeast62's March of the Mini Monarchs report for 7/16/05


Comic Craze-Garland, TX
5 people (small i know, but it was the first time they had a tourney)
1st place: originally 2 packs, but he upped it to 3 cause of our 5th member
2nd and below get nothin (sorry guys!)




Well, its been awhile, but im back!
I havent done one of these in a couple of months because i thought that the other place i go to has an entry fee of $8!
That is a completely crappy price cause all you get is a friggin tourney pack!
I think it is a rip cause you only get 16$ for first (double of what you pay,if you arent good at math).

I WARN RIGHT NOW, IF YOU LIKE HIGHLY DETAILED REPORTS, STOP READING HEAR,( i had to rush to get there and i didnt have anything to take notes so my bad :p)

So, after goin to the Barnes&Noble Harry Potter thingy, i came home, didnt go to sleep till four, went to sleep on the couch, and then woke up hearing this comic place guy saying there was a tourney at 12.
Im thinking "cool" so i go to my room (i call my mom to let her know im going) and then i look at my clock...it was 11:30.....
Then i procede to freak out and pick up my deck and binder and go to my neighbors house and we both went....
Long story short, i made it and it ended up being 4 people including me! But the comic guy was cool and still held it he said that he wasnt going to have one and then he said he clicked a button on accident and MANTIS said that it registered a tourney for him.


so here is the deck!

Before we started i talked to the other guys and it turns out one guy goes to my school so that was cool, he said he needed help with his deck though. I looked through it and it was a chaos deck, so i decided to help my enemy (the deck) and constructed it the best i could, he was sort of a beginner but had collected cards for awhile. I looked at all of the guys decks because it was their first official tourney and i checked for banned cards, one guy had raigeki,harpies, ect..i didnt look at the store managers kid tho cause he seemed to know his stuff.
So after im done helpin him with his deck, the pairings were called and lo and behold...


Round One
Mini Monarchs vs Chaos

Game 1

Lol. We both looked at each other and he is like "Man, that sucks"

He lost the "closest to A" thing and i go first.

Like i said, this report isnt very detailed all i know is i summon a berserk and set a bth and end.
He sets one card f/d and activates Final Countdown.
I NoC his f/d and after a couple of berserks and spears the count down ends at 16. GG

*in between games*
This little girl (anywhere from 9-12) comes in with her dad and she is holding a deck. My neighbor who is a girl scares her bu saying"There is another girl that plays it!"
The Tourney guy/owner of the store, comes to us and asks if we dont mind if she plays, but since its uneven, she will get a bye. No prob dude, the more the merrier!


Game 2

Well, a first turn Final Countdown and a monster f/d for him.

Long story short, i nearly had a heart attack, cause i finished him on the last turn that i had befor he would have won with
Final Countdown. GG

Afterwards, he said he was gonna go with an ALO deck and i said i could help cause my friend brett used to run one.
And he was like cool, i'll give you a card for helpin me so that was cool

Round Two

Mini Monarchs vs Chaos

well, i have to face the little girl, and this was her first tourney too! my neighbor is like "josh take it easy on her" but the girl is like you better not, and her dad said thats the only way she can get better is to fight strong opponents....uh, thanks for the flattery, but im not that good of a player folks. :p
The tourney guy asked me if i could explain everything to her and i did, she already had an Advanced Format deck, cause her dad was a judge for tourneys, and they had quite the collection (this is where i got my 2nd zaborg :) )

Game One

Well, she made pretty straight forward moves,but she couldnt really keep up. I didnt go easier on her, but i guided her in the right directions, and her dad asked if he could help her ( i said go 'head) and he helped her too.
In the end i won, but she put up a good fight. GG to her!

Game Two

This round she hardly needed any help from her dad, and she gave me a really good fight, but in the end, i won, but she did learn alot from that duel, and she thanked me which was cool :)

*in between round 3, i saw the manager's kid use painful choice, and i told him it was banned, and he didnt belive it at first but he put it up, and said thanks, so i think we should put up the ban list on the wall. lol

Round Three

Mini Monarchs vs Beatdown?

I almost forgot that i had a side deck, i was the only one there with one.

Game One

I thought if anyone, i should use my side deck against the store owner's kid.

He went first, and summoned a Chrion the Mage and attached Wicked Breaking Flambrige (or however its spelled) Baou
and set one card f/d.
I am holding a berserk, premature,creature swap, bth, and summin else. i draw and play berserk, which he bottomlesses.
ok. i play pre mature and creature swap his chrion with gorilla, and attack.
And this is how it goes for about 5 turns: he sets a monster f/d, i summon either nimble,or spear, and destroy his f/d with chrion not having to worry about an effect, and eventually i win.

Game Two

Basically the same thing, accept he equipped a maha vailo instead of chrion on turn one, which i creature on my first turn.
i got out all my monarchs. that should say enough :p GG.


Well because i won all of my games and there were four rounds, i had a bye the last round, so i checked out duels and traded and in between (first round chaos and little kid with a beatdown deck) i told them what they could have done in situations they had. But i loved the duels between the store manager's(tourney guy) kid and the little girl. They both were tied one apice, and it could have gone either way, but she made a crucial mistake, and it ended up her BLS got snatched stealed and the kid one. GG to all. and while they were duelin i played the girls father. His deck was a pretty good beatdown with a sasuke samurai/swords of concealing light combo, but he still only knew barely how to play(kept forgeting to draw) and i wont the match. We talked and i gave him some deck ideas that he said he will try and he said hes gonna give me some cards for helpin his daughter (he is a judge so he gets a whole buncha promo things) so for the people out there who are tired of n00bs, just remember that helping them will in turn help you! (unless their annoying and/or cocky, then you may permit to hand them a thrashing, but in a gental way :p)


Well, i came in first so that was good. The store manager came in 2nd, and the little girl 3rd! w00t!
the guy that goes to my school got 4th cause he didnt get a bye, and the little beatdown kid got 5th

I was the only one to get packs cause we only had 5 players, but i got all crap except for 2 des wombats (gotta love 'em)

Now, as a treat for reading this far, its time for....

-my brother for not being as mad as i thought he was going to be (he spent the night at a friends house and missed the tourney)

-RegnR8 for the concept of the deck
-and again for using bait doll (me and my friends used it for along time, and its good to see you using cards that no one would think of using!)

Slops:
-The store owner for calling at like 11:30 to tell me that there was a tourney (but it was cool)
-All the people that didnt show up
-the crap that is my "prize" (accept for the des wombats)




I will be outta town next week, so no deck report :(
But i hope that when i get back we will have more including my brother and friend, the girl's dad, and us "Original Five" and that they will have increased their skills!
