RegnR8's Total Body Control
Tournament Report for June 12, 2005
Hi all,
Welcome to today's tournament report! I hope this writing
finds you well and winning!
Today, I make the biggest mistake I have ever made during a
tournament duel and it cost me the match. It's as simple as
that.
Yesterday, I tried out this deck and it worked fairly well,
taking second place. I made a few changes, adding even more
tribute monsters because I had a difficult time having
tributes in my hand when I could get then out.
Today, I still felt the deck was short on tribute monsters,
even though there are eleven now. Again, there were numerous
times when I had no tribute monsters in my hand, but held
plenty of cards to take my opponents monsters.
The S/T line up remained unchanged. The Light of
Intervention worked well again and the Stray Lamb were an
good asset.
I added Granmarg who turned out to be a good addition. I'm
thinking about adding in some Zaborg, too but I have to
destroy a monster. It may work out if I have a token on the
field or my opponent has Scapegoats out so, he's a
possibility. I am thinking about adding a couple of Monster
Gate but, I don't know. I may just toss in a couple, up the
card count to 42 and have 12 to 13 tributes.

25 to 30 people today
Had a good crowd today. The number of players was back up to
where it usually is around 25 to 30. Hopefully, vacations
and holidays are over for a while and the crowd will be a
little larger.
We got there right on time and I tested out my Skull Servant
deck a little and it was fun. Sometimes it worked, sometimes
it didn't but at least it was a hoot. Sign up began about an
hour late as usual. A lot of us are getting tired of having
to wait for the "judge" to finish playing around before he
decides he's ready to start signing people up.
So, if you're reading this, hurry up next time.
ROUND 1
TOTAL BODY CONTROL VS SPELLCASTER
This guy has never, ever, remotely gotten close to beating
me.
GAME 1
On his opening turn, he sets three S/T cards and summons
Skilled Dark Magician. I had drawn Heavy Storm in my first
draw. LoL.
I play Heavy Storm and he chains Inter dimensional Matter
Transporter on his Skilled Dark. He says, "I have a reason
for doing that". Like I really care. Whatever. I was going
to take it with Soul Exchange this turn, but I guess I'll
wait until next turn. I set the a Scapegoat.
He tributes the Skilled Dark for Jinzo with such a flourish
and bravado, I nearly bust out laughing. He exclaims, "I
sacrifice
Silled Dark Magician to bring JINZO to the field!" He
literally slams down Jinzo like it's going to help him. "I
attack your life points directly!" I activate Scapegoat. "I
hate Scapegoat!" he exclaims. Don't we all.
I Snatch Steal his Jinzo and keep it for a while. He
activates SoRL and sets a monster which I Soul Exchange for
Mobius and get rid of his SoRL. I tibute his Jinzo for my
Jinzo and continue to destroy him. 8000 to negative 2400. GG.
GAME 2
He actually lasts a few turns longer this time. My Light of
Intervention forces him to play his Soul Tiger in face up
defense position and I'm able to use Brain Control on it for
Mobius. I tribute a Lamb for Granmarg and destroy his other
S/T card and then TiV comes out and wipes out everything he
had. GG again.
He says, "I did better than I usually do against you, didn't
I?" Uh, well...no.
ROUND 2
TOTAL BODY CONTROL VS CCCC
Great, my first cookie cutter chaos of the day. Let's see
how fast I get killed.
GAME 1
He opens up with a first turn Delinquent Duo (What a
surprise). A Magician of Faith later, he Duo's me again. My
Big Shield Gardna stalls after he tries to NoC it. Ha ha. I
think I'm going to run two Garndas, they're THAT fun.
Somehow, I manage to get the upper hand and turn the duel
around. His Scapegoats are keeping him alive. Unfortunately,
I attack a Cyber Jar and he gets a whole lot of stuff on the
next turn like, Vortex and crap and well, it was ugly...I
had him down to 1500 and he came back.
GAME 2
He sets a face down card and I attack it and it's Cyber Jar
again.
No!!!! I hate that card. This time, it doesn't help him as
much and I manage to squeak by with a tight win.
GAME 3
Light of Intervention is such a great card. He tries to Book
of Moon my Mobius but can't because of it. I take all his
monsters for my own with Soul Exchange and Brain Control. I
take out Jinzo from his hand with Thestalos which I had
tributed a Lamb token for. He's like, "Wait, you can't do
that."
Yes I can. I just did. I think he was paniced because I won
this duel handily.
ROUND 3
TOTAL BODY CONTROL VS I WASN'T TOO SURE WHAT TO CALL IT
I suppose this deck is a version of a Chaos deck. I didn't
see enough of it really, to make a solid determination. I
did see Apprentice Magician and Magician of Faith though. I
guess Phoenix was in it, I don't know for sure.
I don't take a lot of notes during this duel because he is
one of the few people I duel where I have to think.
GAME 1
Two Thestalos and Tribe are totally owning him with a Light
of Intervention active. His MoF and Apprentice are useless.
He top decks Lightning Vortex when he has 1200LP left. I'm
holding Premature Burial so, I shrug it off, Premature Tribe
next turn and attack for the win.
That was a lot easier than I thought. He drew a fairly lousy
hand.
GAME 2
Oh crap. Sakeretsu Armor blows up my End of Anubis and I
draw no more tribute monsters with a hand full of Stray
Lamb, Brain Control, Soul Exchange and Enemy Controller. I
need MORE tributes.
GAME 3
This is where I make the biggest mistake ever and I just
handed him the win. I beat myself this game.
I was winning handily with Thestalos and End of Anubis on
the field. I had already hit him for a good bit, I think he
was down to maybe 1300LP. Well, to make an embarrassing long
story short, I had Heavy Storm in my hand but didn't play it
because I wanted to keep my Light of Intervention active on
the field. I attacked and got Mirror Force'd and I didn't
draw another tribute monster and I lost because I are
stoopid.....
It's all good!
Hey, I know I could have made it further but, I simply
screwed up in the most major way possible! Woohoo!!
I stayed for a while longer and there was a team duel
challenge thing.
I paired up with another guy and we decided to use of
combined zombie power and got totally destroyed because of
BLS and it wasn't fun. I thought it would be fun to team
duel but no, people can't even play a fun tournament without
their little BLS crutch.
After the lame team duel thing, I stayed longer and play
tested a bunch of decks and had a good time. Most of the
people left and the remaining players were the better ones,
dedicated to creativity and fun, who actually have some
different decks so, it was actually enjoyable losing to a
pyro deck or defeating someone with my Skull Servants. It
was getting late and I had to leave before I got to duel a
few folks I had wanted to.
Until next time, happy dueling!
