Welcome to another installment of the ever so exciting tournament report! Well, since I am a big tinkerer (is that even a word?), I switched the deck just a little bit. I upped the Nobleman of Crossout to two, dropped the Forceful Sentry and the Reckless Greed, then decided to main deck the Royal Decree. Since I only run 4 traps (outside of the Decree), I thought I'd try it out to see if it worked well enough to consider it a permanent addition. Every thing else stayed the same.

We got there pretty early this week so, I dueled a few times with some decks I am trying out for post-ban play. Some worked, others didn't. My defense deck is still coming along very nicely and I'm thinking about adding in some Mystic Swordsman support since I use a lot of Book of Moon and Swords of Concealing Light. I'll have to think about it a little bit more. I traded for a Windstorm of Etaqua and I'm using Zero Gravity so, I think I may try out a Ninja Grandmaster Sasuke. I need more LV4's though. I don't even own one. That's neither here nor there but anyway...
 
ROUND 1
MONARCHS VS EARTH WIERD THING
 
This deck has an enormous amount of flip effect monsters. Penguin Soldier, Magician of Faith and Man Eater Bug for sure. I was practicing with him earlier, and he is why I decided to run both my NoC's today in case I had to duel him. I'm glad I did, although I didn't get to use them as much against him as I had hoped.
 
GAME 1
 
Things are going pretty good. Royal Decree helps out early when it negates his Waboku after I destroy his set Nimble by tributing for Zaborg. He uses Heavy Storm next turn, but the Decree proved useful in getting in a clear 2400 attack on his LP.
 
I Morph Zaborg into Dark Baltar after he sets a monster and I summon a Gorilla, but he Book of Moon's my Baltar. I attack his Man Eater Bug with the Gorilla and he eats my Baltar. Darn. He keeps setting stuff. I know I hit two Magician of Faith in a row. I'm crying for my Noblemans but they don't show up.
 
Finally he runs out of options, and after stalling some more with Book of Moon, I have Mobius and a Premature Burialed Zaborg on the field and get to attack him for another 4800.
 
Later, he uses CHANGE OF HEART (GRR) on my Gorilla to tribute it for a Great Maju Garzett, but he attacks my Fiber Jar and I get a Nimble and attack him with it for the game. GO NIMBLE!
 
GAME 2
 
I'm winning 2700 to 1700 when he has a set monster and some set S/T and I had the Scientist in my hand. I didn't have the LP for Dark Baltar and Ryu Senshi's effect so, I attack into a Cylinder with Zaborg and get down to 300LP. He flips his Fiber Jar on his turn and gets a Gorilla and kills me. Darn.
 
GAME 3
 
This game is pretty much all in my favor. Late game he manages to get Jinzo with an Amplifier on him (big whoop). He's top decking after I suicide a Zaborg with his Jinzo. I have a Gorilla on the field and he special summons a Gigantes to slow the bleeding, but I top deck a CHANGE OF HEART and actually reluctantly use it on his Gigantes and kill him. Oh well. Since it's legal now, you gotta play it.
 
ROUND 2
MONARCHS VS SLOW BURN
 
GAME 1
 
Hmm. Pretty cool deck. It stalled well and nearly decked me out the first game. Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell knocked out a couple of cards and his Soul Release took everything I had out of the graveyard. He got Lava Golem out on me but I Bottomless Trap Hole'd it. heh. A late game Spirit Reaper and Gravity Bind really slow me down, because most of my stuff to get rid of the Reaper was gone.
 
I finally take his Reaper with TER and tribute it for something. Royal Decree stops his Gravity Bind long enough for me to kill him on my last turn. I had no cards in my deck and would have lost in my next draw phase. whew.
 
GAME 2
 
Amazing. I Nobleman of Crossout one of his Spirit Reapers on my first turn. After I flip my Fiber Jar, I Nobleman of Crossout his second Reaper. On his next turn, he sets a monster and I attack it with Breaker, it's his third Spirit Reaper! What the?!?! I finally Ring the dumb thing and after all his defenses are gone, Mobius takes care of his LLAB and that's that.
 
ROUND 3
MONARCHS VS CHAOS
 
I told him I would lose the first game but would win the next two. I was getting in his head.
 
GAME 1
 
I'm doing great! I Ring his BLS the first time he tries to bring him out. I'm seriously winning 6700LP to 1200LP. He's top decking and I have field and card advantage. Guess who he draws into again? Yes, it's BLS! I lose.
 
GAME 2
 
I'm doing great! The deck is flying along and I am kicking his butt. I tribute for Zaborg and destroy his monster and actually attack and win! Wahoo. No BLS.
 
GAME 3
 
I get really mad because he uses CHANGE OF HEART on my Fiber Jar TWICE! My Bottomless Trap Hole help when I get rid of his TiV. I take his Reflect Bounder with TER and attack him a little with that. I tribute off TER for Zaborg and destroy his set Fiber Jar and eventually win a pretty decisive victory.
 
I'm psychic. I lost the first game, but won the next two, just like I predicted.
 
FINALS
MONARCHS VS CHAOS AGAIN
 
This deck is nearly exactly like the deck I just dueled! I really had to concentrate on these last set of duels so, I didn't write any notes.
 
GAME 1
 
Guess who? BLS. I lose.
 
GAME 2
 
I side deck my Royal Oppression and my Tigers and some other stuff. The Tigers and Royal Oppression really work well for me and I win this one fairly easily.
 
GAME 3
 
A very close game. I don't remember exactly how and when I lost, but it was a good duel. Sorry for the lack of descriptives. I know CHANGE OF HEART and HEAVY STORM were crucial to my demise but, I didn't let it bother me.
 
Well, the Monarchs returned to the finals and I got second place. But, it's first loser, so meh....I got ctrap from my packs. The cards were so good, I don't even remeber what they were!
 
Next week, the Monarchs will reclaim their rightful place on the throne!!!! The Royal Oppression and the Monarchs go hand in hand. Maybe I'll main deck the Royal Oppression. It fits the theme well doesn't it? Hmmm. Food for thought....
